I can see why you are tempted. In your shoes, I would go for it - does it mean you would have the 2, because there's no way you can choose between them is there? Osiris would be unhappy at first but then he would come round eventually.

lotsofcats, If you read the links in my post to the rescue's pages they are to be rehomed as a pair. Unfortunately I'm not so sure about Osiris as we got Lexie in 2012 & he still hates her!!! Osiris was a month short of being 6 at the time, the other 2 never took to her but tolerated her. Osiris will be 17 on 1st April so even more set in his ways. Also 2 boys might be seen as more of a threat to his territory especially as they are only 2! Also I'm not sure what impact Osiris would have on the 2 less confident boys, although Osiris is not so brave these days. I think I need to go to the rescue to see them & speak to the rescue about them & the situation. I not sure if seeing Shady looking so like Roman, especially those paws, is influencing me & I don't want choose a replacement (not that any cat ever would)based on emotion but on their own merit (or even whether I really want another cat especially young ones at this moment)

Shady looks like a proper little bruiser, and Stevie so reminds me of Penny. I can understand why they look appealing. You have room for them, and probably able to keep them apart from Osiris when you are not there to supervise them. I think going to see them, and talking to the rescue is a good idea. Let us know how you get on.

How could you resist π»but on the other hand I understand how you feel about the situation. I would love another kitty but I know for sure Freddy would not be happy one bit and I donβt want to stir things up when they all get on so weβll. Itβs a tricky situation but if you visit the rescue you will definitely help you make your decision π»

A visit to the rescue centre is definitely a good idea. I don't think you are impulsive like me and will weigh up the pros and cons. Shady looks like a character like Roman was and like cazypops said, Stevie reminds me of Penny too. Perhaps it's not just a coincidence and was meant to be - I'm a great believer in fate. Good luck tonib with your visit.

Well, I had a good chat with someone from the rescue but the question maybe resolved Sunday as someone has already booked to see the cats. After that visit the rescue will let me know whats happened. If they don't make their mind up then & there & reserve the cats (subject to home visit) then the rescue will arrange a visit for me.

I've sent off the application form but I've also raised the question of my age. When I filled the form out yesterday I didn't sent it but wanted to check it over. First thing this morning I was thinking that all my cats have lived until they were 17-18 & that made me think how old I would be if those 2 cats did the same i.e. late 80s & possibly Elly's recent situation struck home. When I double checked the form it di ask for the gender/age of all adults in the house. I'd seen the gender & the equivalent question for children but had missed the age of adults. So I amended the form but when sending it I also specifically asked the question about age in my email to the rescue. I have a feeling that they may well say no but maybe look for an older cat. I thought it was sensible to raise the question as showing that I had recognised the potential issue but that I was still interested and also that no-one can guarantee what will happen in the future.
It's possible that the question of adopting these 2 may be resolved anyway by them being chosen tomorrow but I've asked the rescue for feedback on the question anyway as it would affect any further searches
