I think you've got everything sussed out for each situation you might encounter with 2 new cats tonib. You will be saving the new cats from smoke-related illnesses. I think it will work out easier as you already have 2 cats and there will be 2 new ones, so no cat is on it's own getting used to new circumstances. Has the rescue given you a visit date?

No date yet lotsofcats. I suspect that I won't hear anything until Wednesday as the chap I saw yesterday said it might leave the arrangements until the lady I saw Saturday is back (had 3 days off starting Sunday) as she dealt with all the conversations/emails before Sunday. It won't be Thursday as that is their vet day so all hands needed (the cattery is short staffed at the moment).

It appears I can adopt, the homechecker did say she had to formally confer with the team but she didn't see any reason why there was any problem and I've not heard anything to say nay (yet!).
I need to organise a few things beforehand including buying a new climber, igloo bed, move Lexie into another room (for at least a few days before they arrive), to be able to use her current room for Shady & Steve initially as it will cope with any accidents etc from scared cats (it hasn't been decorated/carpeted since I've been in the house - at least 22 years). I'll need to slightly reorganise Lexie's temporary room to ensure she can't hurt herself or break anything that I'm particularly attached to but that will be done tomorrow & move her things into it. Her current room can then be fully cleaned, especially any possible hiding places. It will also need cleaning & a little reorganisation
I'm out next Wednesday & Thursday and on the Friday Osiris will be sedated for blood tests so will be rather groggy when he comes home, as it takes a while for the sedative to wear off these days, so I've suggested that its not fair to Shady/Stevie for me to be absent for 2 full days just after the arrive or for Osiris to have to deal with sedation recovery with finding new cats in the house even though he won't actually meet them yet. The plan is that I pick them up the weekend of 25th/26th
The new cats will need to be kept in for 6-8 weeks, during that time there'll be gradual introduction. After a couple of weeks when I'm confident there is no likelihood of scaring the 2 again. I'll swap rooms with Lexie without removing scents etc. but making absolutely sure that there is no danger for new cats in the room. After another week or so I'll let them access to other parts of the house when/where Osiris (at least) won't be around so the scents intermingle. Then the crunch to see what happens when all 4 meet!!! Once that's done & the 6-8 weeks is up will come the next hurdle letting them have access to the outside! By which time I hope to have collars & trackers on them!

I'm hoping so lotsofcats. I forgot to ask yesterday as she had to rush off. I've rung today but had to leave a message with their reception who'll get the cattery to ring me back as they couldn't get an answer from the cattery, probably in a meeting.

A lot of hard work to begin with, but it will be worth it in the end.
