Alfie is home It all looks a bit brutal, worse than I was expecting/prepared for, but they have said the swelling & bruising will all go down quite quickly and hopefully it won't take too long for the fur to grow back. The surgery all went fine... they have sent the eye away for testing as part of their research programme as they just can't understand why it wouldn't respond to treatment - no help to Alfie now, but hopefully coulld benefit another dog some day. He is a little sore which is to be expected and soooooooo tired, but I'm sure he'll be ok after a good couple of days resting. I'm upset it all ended like this but driving away from the AHT this evening I actually felt a strange sense of relief. His other eye is doing great and I'm just relieved the problematic one is gone now to be honest.

Awwww! bless him. Sending him gentle hugs and a kiss on the top of his head. Don't be upset barley, you've only ever done what's best of him, and if you hadn't taken the brave decision to have the cataracts done in the first place he would still be totally blind. At least he can see and get full enjoyment out of life now. Sending you Big {{HUGS}}

Bless him! So pleased to see Alfie home. Honestly when it has all healed up and the fur has grown back, you'll hardly notice barley. Still the cutest little Westie on the forum! But please Alfie...no more....you've worried us all sick! Be healthy and happy now.

A relief for you now it is all over barley and Alfie is looking really good. I don't think his wound looks too bad at all. He will manage fine with one good eye.
