Thanks guys xx I didn't hear anything this morning so finally called at 3 and he was still in surgery. Said they would call he was out, nothing yet I will give it until 6 then call back. I know they're busy and probably dealing with loads of owners as worried as me, but totally beside myself

Both cataracts removed and an artificial lens successfully inserted into both eyes They said pressure in his eyes is fine right now but it can rocket a few hours after surgery, so they will monitor closely. Wasn't happy about his buster collar but is being a good patient otherwise and has eaten his dinner Not out of the woods yet, but so, so, so relieved all is good at this stage and breathe!!

Oh good news barley although you will still be a nervous wreck until you get the update that his eye pressure didn't rocket or that its down again if it does. After that you will just be a wreck until he's home! Shame that you weren't told that his surgery was going to be later, then you won't have worried about not hearing anything. Of course Alfie is being a good patient - not liking buster collars is excused, which pet does like them! - and has had his dinner.

That's a relief. so glad that everything has gone well, and he's recovered enough to be eating. He'll be home again before you know it.

He's still doing well the nurse rang me this morning and said he may be able to come home during the afternoon! But when her supervisor rang at lunchtime she said she felt it was best he stays in another night. So that was a little disappointing but as much as I'm missing him, I'd much rather him stay put until he is properly ready to come home. Pressure in his eyes is still good but there is moderate inflammation which they said is to be expected due to how long he's had the cataracts. I asked the magic question... can he see?.... answer was yes! They're ringing again in the morning and hopefully he can come home tomorrow
