Thank you for the well wishes. He came home about 2 and has been really restless all afternoon but has crashed now and is sound asleep. He's got a rotten upset tum... I was a bit annoyed actually, as when I went to collect him the nurse said she'd just fed him as he was crying and his belly gurgling, so that probably hasn't helped to have a food he isn't used to combined with the effects of the GA, but no huge deal I guess, they were trying to help. He's had a couple of doses of Pro-Kolin since being home and a very small amount of dinner about an hour ago as he wouldn't rest and was bringing up bile. That seems to have settled him and he's quite happy asleep now. Massive cut on his back, they cut a wide margin just in case (the lump was smaller than a smartie). Results & stitches out in 10 days.

Like Scallywag, was not expecting such a large wound (but perhaps I should have)! Then again always better to take a large margin than not enough (just in case!). Hope his tummy settles quickly and that he recovers from the GA quickly this time. Are you going to give him a T-shirt till his coat starts to grow back? Sending hugs and get well wishes from here.

Oooooh My poor wee boy!!!!! Probably looks a lot worse than it is though and perhaps it IS better to be sure and check for any other dodgy tissue now rather than later. He'll definitely be getting the sympathy vote off everyone who meets him, bless

Poor Alfie, I echo the others, in that I was surprised at how long the cut is, and how big a patch the shaved. Hope he recovers ok.
Sending you {{HUGS}}

Glad he's home again now, fingers crossed for good results
I wasn't surprised about the large wound, but only because one of the dogs I walk had to have two lumps removed recently and she looked the same (except double!)

Sorry I didn't mean to gross anyone out with the pictures! He's doing ok today. He slept sound overnight and was very vocal in voicing his displeasure when I was a little slow getting his breakfast this morning! But he's still very wobbly, he starts off walking in a straight line and then veers off to the side. He's also having to pee like a girl as he can't balance to lift his leg! He's coughing a bit and the wound is seeping quite a lot, so I did ring the vet this morning. He said the coughing will be because of the tube he had down his throat during the GA and to give honey, and that some seepage is normal, just to keep it clear etc. caz2golden I hadn't thought about getting him a t-shirt! Do you think I should to keep the sun off of it etc? He's at work with me today and is quite happy keeping an eye on the comings & goings of the office.

Poor Alfie - what a large wound. I'm glad he's feeling a bit better this morning. I think it's a good idea to get him a t-shirt - just be careful it doesn't rub on his stitches.

I'll have to have a look. I know Equafleece do doggie t-shirts. Glad hes doing well and had a good night barley hows the bile situation now ? X It's gone away now thankfully, I think it was just because his tummy was so empty!

It was just an idea / suggestion. It is something I would consider doing (for a walk). At the moment I would have thought it would help to keep wound clean till it heals, though might be irritating on the stitches, so might not work! I was thinking that dogs coat usually protects their skin from the sun and that until his coat starts to grow back (which it will in a few weeks) it might be worth considering covering it up if it is very sunny, though that will have to be weighed up with if it will make him too warm when out and about! Guess he could have a wonderful suntan if he gets to sunbathe Must add he has fabulous patterns across his skin, sort of like the sky at night Sorry to hear he is still wobbly, hope he improves during the day.
