And more good news. Nutmeg had a post op check up on Friday and her heart and breathing rates are back as they were before her dental operation.
She seems to be livelier than she s been over the past couple of weeks and really enjoying her short walks doing lots of sniffing and showing great interest in everything . We take her out in the stroller and she walks as much or as little as she feels like.
This dog is having more come backs than Take That !😊

I find it hard to believe that I am writing this but Nutmeg reached her thirteen and a half years old birthday last week. She is doing so well . Sleeping her days away but still ready for little walks when she wants to.....in fact we took Pud to a large park yesterday( so she could have a good run to burn off some of her never ending energy) and had to make Nutmeg have a rest in the stroller as she had walked a long way. She continues to eat well, doing happy dances when she sees her food bowl and her breathing rate is stable. What a little star. Vet check next week so have got everything crossed that he finds nothing more for us to worry about.

I'm starting to fret about tomorrow's visit. Outwardly Nutmeg doesn't seem to have deteriorated since our scare in May but I am a bit worried what the vet will find when he examines her . I know she will need blood tests to see if the medication is causing any problems to her liver, kidneys etc and that's ok as they are not invasive but we have made the decision that, unless he can convince me otherwise, we will not let her go through more x rays as we feel that the stress caused will upset her. The only thing they will show is that her heart may be even more enlarged and there is nothing we can do to change that so (rightly or wrongly) we have decided to let " nature take its course."

Keeping everything crossed for Nutmeg I can imagine how anxious you will be feeling about the visit. Will be thinking about you and sending positive thoughts - she is having the best life ever 😊sending hugs 🤗 x

Good luck for you & Nutmeg at the vets tomorrow, meandmine. That's a brave but understandable decision you've made, quality of life over (possible) quantity. Hopefully the vet will have good news

Good luck for tomorrow meandmine. You've made a brave decision, something we've probably all be through at one stage or another, and it's never easy.

I 'm H..A..P..P..Y - just got in from our vet appointment and he was really pleased with little squeaky dog. She remains a poorly doglet but her heart and breathing rates are stable ( same as six months ago) which means the condition has not deteriorated. No need for x rays and blood tests were only done to check her kidney function due to the continuing use of diuretics. All in all we could not have expected any better news than that which we were given. ( the only thing is that she looks a bit like a patchwork quilt now with three shaven patches on her neck and legs where it took them three attempts to get the necessary blood sample due to her being so wriggly 😍 - perhaps I shouldn't have laughed but I did ).
Thank you to everyone for their good wishes.😘
