I was in work and my mobile rang but by the time I had dug around for it I had a missed call from the vets. I rang them straight back but the receptionist said the vet was on the phone so I left my work's number for him to ring me back. This was 4pm and I was dying to go to the loo but was afraid to go in case I missed the call! and no phone call by 5pm! I finished work and when I got home hubby said the vet had rung - I think that after he couldn't get me on my mobile he rung my home number. I really wanted to talk to the vet - hopefully hubby took it all in. The blood results were okay, just a high level of white blood cell count but the vet said this could be a result of being stressed (although I read that it's a sign of kidney disease too). So, I will do as my usual vet suggested and take Bramble to see him for a check up in 3 month's time if she doesn't show any signs of illness in the meantime. I've just printed off my insurance claim form to drop off at the vets on the way to work tomorrow morning. Calypso had high level white blood cell count when she had UTI but her kidney results were normal.

Bramble has decided that she's not too keen on the Hills k/d, sometimes she will eat one and other times she turns her nose up at it so she having one every other day at the moment - I don't know if that will help her or not. Bramble seems well, she looks okay and is eating well and playing too. I will take her to the vet in April for a check up as suggested by the vet.

lotsofcats, If she's not too keen on renal food then you can get a phosphorous binder powder (Ipakatine) which can be mixed in food. Don't know if her results warrant that but it can help if she's eating normal cat food, perhaps have a word with your vet. If she likes pate style food then possibly the Kattovit tins from zooplus might help as they're geared for kidney problem cats. Penny didn't like the ocean fish but the chicken & lamb are fine (most of the time).

I also bought some Kattovit pouches from Zooplus but Bramble didn't like those at all. I think they are chicken flavour - if Penny likes them I can return the favour and send them on to you.

lotsofcats we only had tins & have not tried pouches from Kattovit. Might be interesting to try. At this rate we'll be having interesting post office visits as they always ask what's in the the parcel, apparently they have to ask to ensure it doesn't contain anything that's not postable!! Do you need any renal dried? - Penny likes the Royal Canin Renal Select but it doesn't agree with her, their Renal & Renal Special are fine. so if you want to try the Select I'll happily send you some. I tried her with it mixed with the others but I wondered if that was making her sick. I stopped it & she did seem to be better although could still be sick on occasions. so I tried it again & with a day or so she was being regularly sick so I stopped it. typical she's more inclined to eat it - which it is designed for - but it looks like its not good for her, although it could be coincidence.

I was thinking of Royal Canin too. Misty didn't like the K/D and the vet gave me a few samples of RC. She was too far gone to enjoy it, but she ate it.

Meant to say that your parcel arrived & Penny liked the first pouch she had - will try another in a couple of days. My parcel to you was posted today with some other moist renal samples in as well.

I think Bramble has put on a bit of weight. She still doesn't trust me when I pick her up to take her out to the cat pen, she starts to really struggle when I go through the kitchen with her because that's where I hid the cat carrier when I had to take her to the vet. As soon as I open the back door she relaxes and realises she is only going out to the pen.
I've put my insurance claim in for Bramble's vet fees - it came to £552.02. I have a £50 excess so hope to get £502.02 back. The vets took 3 weeks to fill my form in. On Saturday I had my insurance renewal price through for Bramble, Kiba-Khan and Kobi (supposedly cheaper in blocks of 3) and I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw it was dated 4th Feb and so the insurance company weren't aware of my claim - however, it's still gone up a big jump from £39.67 a month to £56.75! and I hadn't claimed for any of them in the previous year.
