Glad to hear Bramble's Ok after her vet visit lotsofcats. What a nightmare visit for both of you. Hope all goes well in January, doesn't sound a pleasant procedure for her but then she will be sedated, although I suspect it will be a general instead.

She's okay. It was a long day of worrying especially when I phoned at 2pm to see if I could go and get her and they said the vet wanted to have another look at her and would phone me back. I waited until 4pm and rang them again and they said I could go and get her but my boss had gone out so I had to wait for him to get back. He said he'd be half an hour and was ages so I ended up going to collect Bramble in the rush hour/Christmas shopping traffic going to the vets and then going home. I was a bit annoyed that they had kept Bramble in the vets all day, starved from 7pm the previous day and didn't even sedate her for her scan. The vet said Bramble doesn't have crystals or stones in her bladder but the scan showed a shadow at the top of her bladder which, while he doesn't think it is anything very serious, he would like to know what it is and get her treated because of the continual presence of blood in her urine. She has to have another procedure in January - they can't do it before that because they will have to send a sample off to be tested and can't have it getting stuck in the post. Bramble will be sedated, have dye injected into her bladder and this will be x-rayed. They will also collect a urine sample direct from the bladder first by using a needle through her stomach. They have to order in a special testing kit and haven't done this procedure before. I am so sorry that Bramble has to to back for more procedures. It took Calypso 24 hours to get over her ordeal. They literally threw the book at her as regards the amount of tests she had. I felt so sorry for her. As initially she was diagnosed with cystitis and she wasn't recovering, most of her tests were about the bladder and she had the procedure it sounds like Bramble will be having, it called Cystocentesis - urine sample direct from the bladder. It was only when the results were inconclusive that I took the poo sample in and then it was found she had Giardia.

Bramble seems to be okay, she's eating well and has forgiven me for taking her to the vet so I'll just spoil her over Christmas and forget about it all until the next vet visit on January 5th and start worrying again then.

I know we all can't help but worry in similar situations lotsofcats but you're so right as Bramble is happy why worry about something you can't do any more about for the moment. After all our pets pick up on those anxieties why make them upset. I'll take this on board for our Penny. Thanks.

Hope all goes well for Bramble today lotsofcats. I gather you will still have to wait for the results if they have to send a sample away for testing

I had to phone at 2pm to see when I could pick Bramble up - had to get my boss to ring as I have almost totally lost my voice and it just comes out as a squeak on the phone!! Anyhow, the vet said Bramble's bladder wasn't big enough for the test so could I phone back at 5pm! I finish work at 5 so will phone them about a quarter of an hour earlier - that should be fun as my boss has gone for the day so I hope they can hear my squeaky voice!
