I've missed this thread. I'm so sorry you're all facing this. It's heartbreaking to see them so happy in themselves but knowing what's to come. It was like that with Rory RIP.

Thank you Cia (((HUGS))) We're just taking it one hour at a time for now The lump looks horrendous and there's no doubt my darling baby is losing weight but there's still that spark in her and she's eating & toileting perfectly ok and getting about....with the help of her own 'stairs' *see below* to get onto the windowsill to sunbathe I'm trying not to stress too much and instead just enjoy what time we have left but I must admit I've cried quite a few tears since last Thursday It just breaks my heart that such an old sweet cat like Hattie has known so much hardship and neglect from humans. When I had George who had Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV) he became very anorexic in his final six weeks or so and it was a nightmare to get him to eat more than a couple of mouthfuls and there were times I wondered whether it was time to phone the vet....but he still had that spark and quality of life which made it SO hard to make that decision I still feel that Hattie has that and it's not quite time yet.....tho' the second I feel it is I'll be straight on the phone - no way do ANY of my animals suffer EVER!!! If I thought they were for even a moment longer than needs be I doubt I could live with the guilt I always say better to let them go a day early than a day late and whilst I think it will be soon with my brave wee girl it's not quite yet
Hattie today - pic taken at 12.30pm

You can say goodbye at home. At the vet's you just want it to be over. Here they never ask it. They put them to sleep immediately and you stay with them till the heart stops beating (with my Vosje it took 3/4 hour). I never said goodbye. Don't want them to feel that the visit to the vet isn't a regular one in case they understand.
You can see that Hattie has lost weight. Enjoy her company as long as possible.

Bless her. That's certainly not uncaring of you, I'm sure the vets understand that. You'll know when the time comes, but for now, she looks happy!

I really feel for you too, having been there several times, it certainly doesn't get any easier. Give her lots of love, treats and kisses.

The sun has just come out for her Bit of a showery night but it's not looking too bad today. We had a little potter about the courtyard yesterday afternoon and she had a lie in the sun It's all just about pampering her summik rotten now and making her final days good ones

She's still going strong, bless her I'm SO pleased my forecast of her not seeing June 1st was a load of baloney I just don't want to part with her yet
Still enjoying her sunbathing on the window, nights on umpteen blankets in front of the heater, toast oozing in melted butter for breakfast and, basically, whatever she darn well wants! She has a couple of lumps on her 'monster lump' which I am paranoid about because they look as if they would burst and gush forth blood like before if they are knocked but I'm ready for that - quick scoop up and dash into the kitchen and hold a tea towel in place (kitchen floors can be mopped; my living room carpet still bears faint stains of the last blood letting!!! ). We spend a lot of time, Neil and I, just cuddling her on a cushion on our laps and telling her how much we love her and she purrs SO loud and rubs her cheeks against us
She's currently fast asleep on the windowsill waiting for the sun to come around
