OK, so here is my plan for what to feed Amber for the first few weeks, and then I'll gradually begin adding more variety. What do you think?! By the way NM = Natures Menu and NI = Natural Instinct. I've stuck to Lamb, Chicken & Fish (salmon & sardines)
Monday | NM Chicken & Salmon | Lamb Spine | Tuesday | NI Lamb | Sardines | Wednesday | NI Chicken | Salmon Strips and NM Blend | Thursday | -----NM Banquet Nuggets--- | ----Lamb Necks-------- | Friday | Same as Mon | Same as Mon | Saturday | Same as Tues | Same as Tues | Sunday | Same as Wed | Same as Wed |
I think I am right in understanding that NM & NI are both complete, however I might look into Coconut oil......where do I get that?!
Do you think there would be enough "chewing"?
I have found somewhere that does a limited selection of NI products, plus the place where I can get NM also do Prize Choice.
So she will be getting plenty of variety once she is used to raw

I may be wrong but I think there may be too much fish on your menu. I had the idea it was ideal to have two portions a week. Someone correct me if I'm wrong? :S

Yes, I'd say your right petitsfilous as there is quite a lot of fish. I was trying to stay on just chicken, lamb and fish so it meant I ended up with a lot of fish! Especially as she was having the same meal on Monday as on Friday, you know! I will trade some of the fish meals for meaty ones. Monday | NM Chicken Nuggets | Lamb Spine | Tuesday | NI Lamb | Sardines | Wednesday | NI Chicken | Lamb Necks | Thursday | -----NM Lamb--- | ---Salmon & NM Blend----- | Friday | Same as Mon | Same as Mon | Saturday | Same as Tues | Same as Tues | Sunday | Same as Wed | Chicken & Liver PC |
That way she will be only getting Fish twice a week. Thanks

I personally think there is far too much variety in meats and this could cause problems with diarrhoea.
I would be inclined to stick to chicken or turkey or tripe for the first 2-3 weeks, giving bones such as chicken carcass, chicken wings, more poultry like bones...lamb bones can be rich for dogs new to raw and do tend to be "richer" so again be cautious in the early stages.....I would lay off the sardines and liver in the same week until you have been on raw for a bit.....I usually only give my dogs 1-2 fish meals a week but not because of any "rule" but just that fish can be expensive and can reappear on the floor!!! only to be re-eating again YUK!!
remember the slower the better.....

I agree. I used chicken and beef mince to start. I only give fish twice a week aswell, its expensive enough.

OK, so would beef we better than lamb so? Or do I just stick to Chicken, Turkey or Tripe? Do I go for one meat source, or two or three? I will hold back on the fish for a few weeks. Also, when introducing new meats, how I am best to do this? Thanks everyone

BorderTerrier Yes, I think I'm going to have to do it very slowly.... Can't wait to get her on raw now, we are getting a freezer for it this week. Then I am going to start working out what to order and how much I can fit inside!

I have a freezer just for the dogs as well as them having 3 of the drawers in the human freezer (which only has 4 drawers!) LOL

Introduce new, slowly and VERY gradually AA. BT- I wish you would stop repeating the advice that people have giving in previous posts...it is becoming slightly annoying! I know we all learn from one another but this is verging on juvenile arrogance!
