Oh that's a decent weight for a meal. Haha! They definitely seem like a good portion size. I might get some lamb chunks or something to give them before trying something that big though. Just in case it doesn't agree with them.

Dug out the packaging, The ones I got were 275g and 305g. Mine have had lamb/mutton mince and lamb hearts so I had feeling lamb would be fine. I await big bugs package from yesterdays food!! Little bug is still unwell She had rice for breakfast and then required loo again so she will have no more food today unless she does a normal one before evening meal (pigs fly!!) big bug had a chicken quarter for breakfast today. I let her go solo again, wish I had not in some ways as it went down in one chunk, but she now knows she has to crunch before swallowing so she is actually handling things better than she was! In this respect I am proud that she is learning!!

That's pretty good. They'd be most of the meal for my girls. I think lamb will be okay. I'm just a bit wary of lambs liver as I think that disagrees with Pepper, going from what she was like with some of the commercial wet food. Ooh has she not gone yet?? Oh no Poor Phoebe! Hopefully she'll be sorted by tonight. Well that's good at least!! She'll get there in the end. I haven't seen Pepper's rib again, so I'm guessing that she must have chewed it up more than I realised.

As we are talking poo!! big bug was fine today After Rubyroos warning about heart and fish I thought I was in for trouble Little bug had a real bad night and therefore so did I!! Hoping something will come out ok on second walk of the day!! Wondering now if it is a bug rather than the pork!! Then again she is plenty mental on walks. Went out for a off lead walk this morning both bugs are totally zzzzzzzz timed and have been for hours.

Haha, it's a very popular topic! Oh good! Yeah, I would have been thinking the same. Oh dear Good luck! Possibly! It could be something similar to what Ellie had the other week, but it sounds as if you caught it earlier than we did, so it never got to the same stage. Ellie was raring to go when I took her out that day and was rushing about all over the place. Haha, those are the best walks

LOL I was obsessed by POO for about the first mmmmmm YEAR + after starting raw LOL

Tea tonight: Pretty much the same as yesterday, but with a couple of additions. Beef NI, one pork rib, ox kidney, pork mince and, as a special treat, venison steak! I found the venison steak in Tesco. It's sold in packs of two (small) steaks for £4, but is also included in the 3 for £10 offer. These ones were shoulder steaks, but they sell leg steaks too (which come with a sachet of redcurrant sauce). As they're quite expensive for their small size, I cut the smaller steak into chunks and have put the other one in the freezer for another day. I was conscious of giving them too much as I wasn't sure how they'll cope with it, even though they've eaten venison in Lily's Kitchen (I imagine it's not quite the same when it's raw). Both dogs ate the lot tonight - Ellie seemed to have no problem with the kidney today. Although I don't know whether she just ate it so I didn't give it to Pepper again !

So they coped fine with the sardines and heart?...they sound like raw professionals already! LOL I was obsessed by POO for about the first mmmmmm YEAR + after starting raw LOL My youngest has been unwell so has missed out on most of the raw this weekend (still unsure if it was pork rib or if she has a bug, starting to think latter) However G has tried it all and touch wood is ok! I really thought after your warning that I was walking straight into a big mistake, breath out and phew, we survived! Next week I will calm it down a bit and as they have had plenty of offal over last few weeks it will be offal free. I think I may try and get the lamb breasts again and the chicken quarter worked well too. Morrisons here I come!! Visit to butcher I may put off another week as I am unsure what will be in the off cut rolls they sell.

So, there was an offer in Dogs Monthly magazine for a half price hamper from Honey's - £30 instead of £63. As my girls have enjoyed their Natural Instinct, I thought I'd take advantage of this offer and try a different supplier. The hamper arrived today, consisting of 9kg of minces, 1kg of chicken wings, two marrow bones and a copy of their book - Honey's Natural Feeding Handbook for Dogs. The 9kg breaks down into 3kg of chicken, 2kg of beef, 2kg of duck, 1kg of lamb and 1kg of pork.
The only problem is, I'm now taking up three drawers in the family freezer - oops!

orpheous87 I am currently taking a drawer in the human freezer too, despite the fact that I have a dog one (which is fit to burst - it is so stuffed!!) I was interested in getting some Honey's for Amber but as ever, they don't deliver to Ireland! So the Butchers is where we start & stop nowadays! He's getting to know us know and is like "you're the girl with the dog right?!" Although I found out yesterday she's not the biggest fan of fish so we'll probably not get to know our fishmonger that well!

How big is your dog freezer AnnaAmber?? I need to get one, but I'm not sure how big to go lol. It's a shame they don't deliver to Ireland coz the offer is the perfect way to try it without having to order too much and pay a fortune! If I'm honest, I'm not sure I'd be able to feed them Honey's full time. The cost per kg is much more than NI - £4 for chicken as opposed to just under £3 for the NI chicken. Haha, well that's a good thing! I'm sure that building up a good relationship with your butcher will only benefit Amber in the long run! Oh dear, lol. She might change her mind in the future.

Our dog freezer is an undercounter one, I don't know if this helps give you an idea of the size but it has a net capacity of 80?! Whatever that means!! It's a fair enough size, but I just got far too much, LOL Would love to get a huge chest one but have no clue where we'd fit it!! The pre-prepared stuff is pretty expensive to feed a big dog like Amber, I have to admit! We're better off to do it the DIY way anyway! The butcher is very good to us to be fair, hardly costs us anything, he gives us lots of chicken carcasses and stuff for free.

Ahh, yep, that gives me an idea! I guess it probably means 80 litres? Haha, I can understand that. That's how I've ended up using so many drawers. I'm looking at chest freezers, but not the massive ones. I wouldn't have anywhere to put it either Yes, I can imagine! My two are both fairly small, but between them they get just under 1kg a day raw, so the cost soon adds up. The butcher in our town won't sell bones so I'm not too sure what I could get from him really.
