Well i had never heard of Nylabones until i had read the thread regarding hidechews, Riley loves his hidechews but i have always been a little weary of them. So i decided to go for a safer option and try a smokey bacon nylabone riley had it for around 5 minutes and now shows no interest in it at all, i also got him a stag when he was younger and he shows no interest in that either.
Riley is teething really badly at the moment we keep finding teeth so i would have thought he would have liked the nylabone with it been very hard. Could i put the nylabone in the freezer for a few minutes to help with his teething?

Jasper is the same with his Nylabone/Stag bar. He uses it for a few minutes at a time then it gets shoved to the bottom of the toy box for ages :/ When Buddy was teething we used to wet, knot and freeze a few old tea towels and it used to pacify him for a bit. However, you then need to teach him not to take other towels (we forgot to do this and came home to holey tea towels lol) I've also heard of people using Frozen carrots if he likes carrots. I wouldn't see a problem with freezing the Nylabone

barley has two nylabones but only chewed them when he first got them, since then he has ignored them he prefers a stuffed kong or his stag bar to chew on

We have a few nylabones, but none of ours are too fussed for them. Occasionally they'll have a chew but not that often to be honest.
Maybe Riley would prefer a stuffed Kong? Carrots are a great chew too!
I have never tried this but a friend suggested rubbing the antler down a outside wall or something, to expose the marrow so they are more interested in it?

Mine have never bothered with them either, I think they're a bit pointless really! What I found good for Katy when she teethed was frozen carrots, they kept her occupied for ages and they are nice and healthy too.

I've never used Nylabones. Oscar does love stag bars though but he can go off them from time to time, or I just forget about it for months and months!
Rather than towels, I'd be more likely to plat some fleece together and make the little tug toy then soak and freeze. Towels just tend to fray really easily and then some of the long threads could get all tangled if he eats them. Oscar was a dog who tended to rip towels apart like there was no tomorrow, hence the fleece instead.
I also love frozen carrots (for the dog not me), they go all floppy though if you forget about them and the dog doesn't eat them........
Or, you know those Baby toy things that you get for teething monsters. The ones that are rubbery with water in and you can freeze them so the go all hard? Well, those things. They'd probably work too!
Oh and now with the hot weather, Ice pops!!!! Dog style of course! Oscar loves them! Just get a plastic freezer bag, or small plastic container (the screwball tubs work well). Half fill with water and throw in some goodies (his breakfast, treats, chicken or even use chicken soup) and then pop in the freezer for a while. I've even frozen kongs in them (I was a tough puppy mum wasn't I!!) .
And Ice cubes.

I have various Nylabone products for Earl - I couldn't praise the make enough! Earl loves chewing his Nylabones.
I am sure nothing dramatically wrong would happen if you attempted to freeze the Nylabones!!!!!
Never heard of ice pops for dogs Bextull, sounds interesting.

You can also make flavoured ice cubes, if your dog would eat them. Much long Kong recipes, with yoghurt, scrambled egg, meat stock etc.

Never heard of ice pops for dogs Bextull, sounds interesting. Thats probably because I made them up! They are my own little inventions! In saying that, it's not rocket science so I'm sure plenty of people do it too and if you look hard enough you'd probably be able to find ones that come like people ice creams but for dogs - with a hefty price tag to match!

Mine loved her orka bone during teething! She would play tug with my older dog and what seemed to be a hand full of teeth would then be on the ground!! Mine prefer fallow deer antlers which are softer than the red deer ones. www.antlerdogchews.co.uk/speciality-chews
