I seem to have encountered an issue with Freddy over the past few weeks.
To put you in the picture from Freddy being neutered he is very greedy ,he will even steal Riley's food and chews, it is a constant battle with him.
He went through a stage of getting quite chunky but is now at his ideal weight.
He has wet food and Hills metabolic urinary and weight control dry that is weighed out and I usually give him these in his treat ball.
I normally give him some dry biscuits in his treat ball before bed and I have noticed the next morning he has vomited a small amount. I put this down to him not chewing or crunching the biscuits and just swallowing them and not digesting them.
He is not vomiting every day probably every other and I have noticed biscuits in the vomit. although he does not seem to vomit after wet food.
I came home from work today and noticed only a small amount of vomit upstairs but he had not had any dry food since 10pm last night. He has been having Tiger wet food (asda) for the last few weeks he normally has whiskas/felix. d I have been and bought some different dry and wet food to try to see if it makes a difference , and I am going to monitor this for the next week and if he is still has this problem I will take him to the vet.
I'm just not sure if it is the fact he is just scoffing his food and not really digesting it.
any advice would be really appreciate.

chantel, We had a period with Lexie where she was being sick yourpetforums.co.uk/post/141222/thread It might be worth reading. If it is regular vomiting/regurgitation then I'd advise a vet check. Apparently vomiting & regurgitation are different and can mean different things - oddly this is referred to in a QA in Your Cat this month (March 2018) Page 44. Don't know whether you have access (one way or another) to the mag. Good luck with finding the issue with Freddy - it could easily be the change in cat food. By the sound of it there aren't any furballs involved so its unlikely that's the problem but I suppose it is a possibility. Is he an outdoor cat, so could he be eating something elsewhere that you don't know about - wild life, rubbish etc.? The only photos I;ve seem of him outside he was on a lead so not sure that applies.

The problem is with cat biscuits has you will know they are quite smalll and Freddy just tends to swallow them straight away and so he is not digesting them. I bought some go cat yesterday as they seem bigger and I sprinkled some down for him and touch wood he had not been sick . I will leave him some down when I go to work today. Like I said if things don’t settle down I shall take him to the vets but hoping they do has he finds it so stressful going to the vets . Thanks for your advice tonib 😊

First of all, well done for getting Freddy down to his ideal weight - how did you do it? Like tonib says, I would take him to the vet if he continues to be sick on a regular basis. Perhaps you should get larger kibble if he seems to be swallowing his usual kibble whole. Hopefully the new Go Cat will be more suitable. If not, Maine Coon kibble is much larger and most of my cats have some and they always crunch it up (well maybe not Kiba-Khan). I can send you a sample to try if you want - just send me a PM and your address and I'll pop some in the post.

Freddy has been having hills metabolic weight control dry kibble that I have been weighing out and giving it him in his treat ball at night time and he also has a slow feeder dish for his wet food. Although I think has he rolls the treat ball 3 and 4 biscuits are probably coming out at once and he is just swallowing them . So I am going to try putting his kibble in his slow feeder dish to see if it makes a difference. Thank you for your kind offer regarding the kibble but i’m going to see how things go with the go cat /the only problem is it’s not weight control so I will have to monitor him . 😊

Thank you tonib for your kind offer thought things were going well until i came home from work this afternoon ☹️ As as I opened the front door I got the smell and both Freddy and Riley met me Riley looked really anxious bless him ☹️Freddy had been sick on the kitchen mat it was a really dark brown colour I noticed a few biscuits and fur in it . He had biscuits for supper last night and whiskas wet food this morning. But he has been crunching the biscuits. I’m just feeling a little concerned as he seems to be looking much thinner and he has always been on the chubby side ☹️Maybe that’s due to the vomiting . I’v booked him in at the vets for tomorrow evening , I think it needs checking out ☹️He looks really sad ☹️

Well Freddy’s vet visit went well 😊the vet gave him a good examination and said she wasn’t overly worried about him . She advised to feed him smaller meals but more often . And to try changing the way I feed him .
Because Freddy is so greedy I can’t leave food down for him to graze at through the day because he would just scoff it all until he was sick ☹️ So we normally give him 1 meal of wet for breakfast and another meal of wet for tea and then dry biscuits in his treatball before bed . The vet advised instead of giving him 2 main meals a day to give him much smaller amounts through the day , she said because he’s not having anything during the day he’s scoffing it down at teatime. She also advised soaking his biscuits for him .
She was pleased with his weight and said I thought he was looking thin because for the first time he was getting a waist, something he has never had before .
Regarding the water she wasn’t worried- she said he would be getting plent of water in is wet food .
So we are just going to monitor him for the next week 😊 She said he was a right little character (a greedy labrador in a cat’s body )

Oh that is good news chantel. As to water we rarely see Osiris drink (although we have no idea what he does outside) but then he is a wet food only cat - he hates any dried cat food including cat treats I can't even give him a piece of meat if I've just handled dried food!!! How are you going to manage the smaller amount spread through the day, especially if you are both working? I know there are timed feeders available so that might be an answer. Hope that the smaller meals & soaking the biscuits does the trick. We bought some small tubs, from Lakeland, and used them for putting cat food in as both Penny & Lexie only had/have part of a pouch/tin (of different food) in the morning & evening so it made it easy to store in the fridge during the day or overnight (Penny's diet moist was only in 156g cans so it had to keep for 4 meals, Lexie's has 1/2 a pouch at each meal so it is consumed each day) Love the vets description that would have suited our Penny's character & love of food although I think in her case the Labrador might have been crossed with a fighting terrier!

To be honest I would have never thought about soaking his dry food at all . I just wish I could leave him some food down to graze through out the day , I think it would be better for his tummy and wouldn’t be as hungry at teatime but I know he would just scoff the lot . She advised pretty much of what I thought but I feel better just having him checked over 😊 😊
