Got a bit of a stressful morning-Riley and Elsa are at the vets for their health check. Elsa gets herself really stressed out 🙈I normally I have to stand outside with her until we are called through because she barks continuously. Riley is so good bless him he just thinks it is a day out and everyone makes a big fuss of him 😀 Hope all went well for Riley and Elsa. |

Thank you went really well 😀Elsa wasn’t overly stressed out because she was able to go in with Riley 🐶once we carry Riley over the hard floor in the waiting room he goes straight in and Elsa followed him .
I think she may have been stressed out last time due to the restrictions- 1 pet and 1 adult 🙈
Elsa was a bit under weight last time 16 kilo but she’s now 18 kilos and Riley is 24 kilos which is about right for a male so I was quite pleased with their weight.
I discussed Elsa’s anxiety and the vet agreed that she picks up on Riley’s anxiety 😥 it’s really hard at times to deal with it 😥I would actually say that Elsa is much worse than Riley now 😥
I got a supply of the sedatives that we normally have for the fireworks just for back up when we have our new roof at the beginning of September.
Other than that everything was ok 👍

It is hard to deal with stress in pets. Good idea to get some sedatives ready for when you have your new roof.

I had a bit of a stressful morning yesterday 🙈I got up and let the dogs out for a wee and Elsa was ages at the bottom of the garden in he corner next to the hut , she just wouldn’t move at all - I eventually went to see what she was doing and she was guarding a pigeon - it was injured 🥲so I quickly took the dogs in and went backdown the garden 🪴 I managed to lift it into a box it looked like it had a injured wing and foot but after a closer look it looked like something had attacked it maybe a cat.
I put a bit of Freddy’s litter in the bottom of the box to make it feel cosy and gave it some water but it was lifeless 🥲just flickering it’s eyes -it even let me stroke it .
I put it in the hut where it could feel safe and kept checking on it .
I was planning on taking it to the vet so I got dressed went back to the hut to check on it but it had passed away - I was heartbroken 😭 I had done my best but I think the injuries were too severe.
I’m so proud of Elsa because if she hadn’t alerted me to see the pigeon it would have just been left there for predators to attack it -i just feel really sad 😢 i’v been thinking about it today at work 🥲

Poor pigeon, you made his last moments comfortable for him. I would have been really upset too. That was lovely that Elsa was guarding him.

Has anybody else’s pooch become grouchy with age 🤣
Riley has become very grumpy and only does what he wants to do now 🙈he even snapped at me this morning when I tried to brush him 😕🤣

My dogs tend to ' mellow' with old age but do become stubborn and set in their ways. Perhaps you caught a knot in Riley's coat which hurt and made him snap? |

Yes lotsofcats his hearing is spot on - I forgot to mention that he seems to be barking much more 🙈he will be sat at the side of me and the minute I get up to move he starts barking he does the same with hubby it seems to be when we get up and go into another room maybe it’s an age thing he is 10 now🐶 He gets brushed very regular so no knots but if he doesn’t want a brush or wants to be left alone he will snarl 😕 They are both at the vets on Saturday for a 6 month check up depending on the weather so I will mention it . The little wart/ like water blister keeps going down and then filling up again but it’s not bothering him and it’s no bigger than when it was checked last time. I think 🤔 he’s just maturing into an older gentleman and getting grumpy 😂🤣 |

Pepper has definitely got grumpy with old age. But, at the same time, she has also gone deaf which I suspect has something to do with it.
Hopefully the vet visit will help give you answers.

Yes I think it’s just shall we say getting older 🤣Riley has always been very laidback but he is getting more stubborn and won’t do anything he doesn’t want to do .🤣
He still has the small like water/blister/ lump on the side of his neck - it just keeps popping and filling back up again - i will get it checked again but I was Told last time it wasn’t anything sinister 😊

You'll have to lure him with treats to do what you tell him to do. Kobi has also got very stubborn. If I am just about to go out to work and Toffee has come in, I can't leave them both in the same room together so I tell Kobi to go into the kitchen - he will turn around and jump on the armchair instead, so I yell (he's deaf) and point to the kitchen door and the cheeky so and so will them jump back up on the sofa!
