Interesting that your dog is a collie chantel, though I know it's not only a collie quirk. Both of my collies did this, but they had the added horribleness of eating fox and bird poo too!URRRGH!!! Yes they do eventually grow out of it,and bellowing LEAVE!! does work, if you catch them at it.Mine moved on to rolling in fox poo, wonderful perfume!Oh the joy.Happily the rolling became less, but had to be vigilant. The trick of rubbing fur with tomato sauce before the much needed bath really does work, and it doesn't stain any white fur.Good luck,as I know this habit drives you nuts. P.S. Wish I had heard of the pineapple trick when I had mine as pups.

There are a couple of products on the market, Stool Repel Um and Copra-Nil which you can use to supplement training. basically, they make the stools unpalatable.

I use Copra-Nil and Jess still eats them, so it's not the best but other dogs may react differently.

Well since giving Riley pineaple i,v not really noticed that he has been eating his poop. But changing his breakfast routine 30 minutes earlier in a morning and then waiting for 15 minutes before taking him outside as made a big difference, i have more of a rush in a morning but it seems to be working.
And Riley has started barking and whimpering after his tea to tell me he wants to go outside to do his business (bless him) he as been really good at toilet training we havn't had many accidents inside at all. Hopefully if the weather keeps good he should be toilet trained very soon.

Great chantel, sounds like you've cracked it. Dogs can be so grim can't they!
