He seems to be managing fine when it comes to running around etc., but I don't think he's putting full weight on it yet. But I can't be sure. He might just be standing weird when I'm looking at him!
We're going to be going to the vets on Friday for weight checks, so I might just get the vet to check it again to be sure.

That sounds a bit like our Jasp when he did his hip. It was only when he got noticable muscle wastage that we realised that we hadn't been imagen it.

He's definitely not right. He's on 3 legs again tonight, hopping about and stretching his leg out behind him. So it's definitely vets tomorrow when I get home from work. Did you get X-rays done for Jasper cazypops? I'm thinking I might have to ask for them to rule out cruciate for sure.

Yes orpheous87, and the injury that Jasper got the vet said can be quite common in JRT. Really hope he's ok, the poor baby. {{HUGS}}

He's definitely not a happy puppy. Although he does forget about it if there's a knock at the door and the other two run. He runs too, but he's using 3 legs more tonight than he did last time I think. Even sitting and lying down seems to be a bit awkward for him today and when he's shaking himself, he lifts the leg off the ground (which makes the shake look quite funny). And he's still standing on his tiptoes.

I know what you mean about shacking on three legs. Jasper still does that too. Is it one of Cody's back legs? and have to say that Jasper often stands on his tiptoes, it's just something he's always done.

I know I shouldn't laugh, but his leg shakes separately to the rest of his body lol.
Yeah, it's his left back leg. He's never stood on his tiptoes before, his foot was always flat on the floor. Plus, you can actually see him not putting weight on it. He's being very cautious with it tonight. Apparently he was playing around with my brother, jumping about etc., and then started holding his leg up again. So again, it's not been a major jump and landing from the sound of it. But I also don't think he rested enough the first time round so it could just be that. But I think he definitely needs checking by the vets.

Yeah I think your right, if it was just a muscle strain, it would have been a lot better by now.
Let us know how he goes on at the vets, and if I was you (or your brother) I'd seriously think about getting him X-rayed. Just to be on the safe side.

Well that's what I was thinking. But I've never been completely satisfied that he was healing anyway even though he appeared to be walking/running normally. The standing on tiptoes is a bit of a sign.
If I take him tomorrow, I'll be asking for x-rays. Because the anti-inflammatories haven't worked, and I don't think putting him on crate rest would necessarily help either because I don't think he'd rest even then. If we get x-rays and they show that nothing is wrong, he just needs more rest, then he'll have to be put on crate rest and have his crate covered in an attempt to keep him still. I can't see how we'd stop him from moving around otherwise.

I know, it was murder trying to keep Jasper still and rested. Plus he was only 6 months old too. Every time our back was turned he would use the furniture in the living room like his own personal assult course. (Little sod!) But the first sign he was getting better, was when he went for a tinckle and stood on his bad leg to do it.

Ooh I can imagine. Cody's so active, even while he sleeps (he's very twitchy). And he's so quick, you don't get chance to stop him before he darts off sometimes. Which definitely doesn't help.
Haha! Well, he has been doing that occasionally anyway, but I suppose if he ends up having an op, it'd be a different story!

I'm not sure tonib! It's a bit late now as he's had his tea lol. As it's his legs, it might not matter.

Does your vet manage to do xrays whilst pet just sits there really still ( he must be a marvel then ) but... If they are going to do the test for the cruciate rupture, pushing pulling twisting, I think he will have to have a GA surely Good luck , hope its not a rupture xx
