orpheous87, I had the same with Roman but hadn't thought of cruciate. I just knew that he wasn't responding as quickly as he normally did to Loxicom so I pushed & they x-rayed him 4 days after the 1st visit & were very surprised to find it was his cruciate (apparently rather unusual injury in a cat! )

Hi sorry to hear your pup is not well, does Cody "knuckle the foot" on the effected leg?

tonib the only reason I immediately thought of cruciate was because of seeing Oscar go through it. If that hadn't happened, I probably wouldn't have thought it either. It seems to be resolving now as he's been walking/running normally for the most part today. He did jump over some things in the kitchen this morning and immediately lifted his leg up and carried it for a few steps, but since then he's looking more like normal, although he's not fully fit yet. No jacksmum he's not knuckling it at all. He just looks like he's standing on tiptoes on that foot.

Oh that is good news orpheous87. I didn't even think of cruciate with Roman just knew it wasn't a simple case of jarring from landing badly as he wasn't improving even the slightest after 2 days of Loxicom & he's a cat that responds well & doesn't normally show pain uness its bad.

Bless poor Roman. I don't think I've ever heard of a cat snapping it's cruciate ligament before either, so I can understand why the vets were surprised! I'm still feeling sceptical about it being a muscle strain as I just don't know whether the anti-inflammatories are masking any symptoms or whether his leg is genuinely improving. All we can really do is wait until the course of anti-inflammatories is done and see if he's back to normal.

Fingers and toes crossed orpheous87 that its not the cruciate. I haven't said much on thread about it as didn't want to dampen hopes but with Beau he was intermittent holding it up ( he did his whilst I was visiting my sister in America, fortunately I was only 3 days away from end of my trip ) he wasnt holdong it up permanently, it was a case of mind over matter, when he ran it was held up, when he stood it was on tippy toes for that leg, our vet checked for Stability and he could feel when he pushed pulled twisted Beaus leg about that it was unstable, Beau never uttered a word during this. He felt it was ruptured and decided to put him under and do the proper test in full, which confirmed the rupture. Good luck with the results x

...It's another! Cody is limping quite badly. He was fine until my dad came home about an hour or so ago. My mam said that he ran out of the door fine but came back in limping. He's barely weight bearing on it and I have an awful feeling that his cruciate has gone. I had a good feel/prod about and there was no yelping or any apparent discomfort. I'll be ringing the vets in the morning to see if they'll see him tomorrow but if not, it'll have to be Monday. Normally its landing / twisting as they land that does it ( so I was told ) if he was on a straight run and never jumped up and landed funny hopefully is is just a strain x

That's good to know scallywag. The vet had a very good feel/stretch etc. on Sunday and she said she didn't feel what she would expect to feel for a rupture so fingers crossed she's right. He had a massive case of the zoomies this afternoon and we couldn't stop him from racing backwards & forwards through the living room! No carrying his leg or anything, so hopefully that's a good sign. He is still standing on tiptoes on that foot though. Not all the time, but quite often.

Maybe the zoomies should be curtailed just for a couple days treat him as if he has damaged it and give him bed rest, just to be sure, and also so you can monitor it better, easy on the purse strings too, last thing you need is for him to be put under, just to do the proper test eh ? ok will shut up now

They should be curtailed scallywag, I agree! But every time I caught hold of him, he wriggled free and zoomed off again! He just thought I was playing a game. Silly dog. He has had a lot of crate rest today because we're getting a new kitchen fitted and he cannot be trusted with strangers! But, sadly, this doesn't really keep him quiet because every time a workman appears in his eyeline, he goes mad and barks at him. If he HAS (or does in future) ruptured his cruciate and has to have surgery, I honestly don't know how we'll keep him quiet. He'll have to have long term crate rest, but I'm pretty sure even that won't help!

We first thought that Jasp had done his cruciate, but after x-rays it turned out to be his hip. Glad to see that Cody seams to be improving.

Bloody terriers! Lol. It's impossible to stop him from running around like an idiot. Hopefully the anti-inflammatories are doing their job and he'll be fine come Saturday/Sunday.

think that's one of the thing I love about terriers, their enthusiasm for life, and nothing gets them down.
