Late this afternoon we said goodbye to our lovely, grumppuss, Penny, exactly 1 month before her 17th birthday. Sadly her kidney disease & hyperthyroidism got the better of her & she became very weak & frail over the last 2 days. She still had enough in her to complain about the sedative injection  but went very quietly, calmly & quickly after the final one. One dignified lady to the end There's plenty of tears here but a host of lovely memories of you & we'll see you at Rainbow Bridge one day, say hi to Chloe for us when you meet her. I Just wanted to let you know I made it home
Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh so new. I wish that you could close your eyes so you could see it too.
Please try not to be sad for me. Try to understand. God is taking care of me.. I'm in the shelter of his hands.
Here there is no sadness, and no sorrow, and no pain. Here there is no crying, and i'll never hurt again.
Here it is so peaceful, when all the angels sing.

Thanks everyone, I've got tears rolling down my cheeks as I read scallywag's verses so just about read the following ones, but we really do appreciate everyone's words & thoughts. Why is it that animals, not just pets, upset me more than humans?  As to Penny, she really made us her servants (not a chore - well maybe slightly when she used the downstairs loo carpet as her personal loo) & even when cornered by Osiris or Lexie made sure they knew who was boss, including seeing off any neighbouring cats (& even Poppy the dog) who entered HER garden! She was a real character & will be sorely missed |

tonib I'm so sorry to read this.  What a lucky lady Penny was. To have been loved so much and to pass in such a dignified manner, after a long and happy life with you both. Sweet dreams Penny xx

Once they cast their spells we all succumb to their wonderful magic and Penny certainly weaved her magic on yourselves.

Penny was certainly a very lucky cat to have had you and Mark rescue her - you gave her the best life she could ever have wished for. Take comfort in your lovely memories of her. , lotsofcats, As to Penny being lucky, we were the lucky ones (well most of the time, we didn't always think it when cleaning up after her on occasions!  ) to have had her in our lives albeit for only just under half of her nearly 17 years of life. It was a real privilege to be her servants & boy were we on occasions cia they do weave magic don't they & Penny certainly did. Sometimes we don't always realise how much until we have cause to think of them not being there or they're really gone. |

You all made eachother very happy and thats magic is it not, one perfect union had by all, its such a shame it cant last forever, but our memories surely can.

Toni how would you feel about the forum knowing nearer the time when Penny's 17th birthday is upon us so as we can all still remember that date via a short line in honour of your dearly departed princess?
