Ringo is looking good. I hope that the foam and tape on his pins will be okay until Andrei gets back to have a look at it and decide what is best.

Fingers crossed the foam and tape work. The last thing the poor lad needs is a secondary infection too. He's such a gorgeous little lad, and so cuddly too.

Animals I love: Cats
Pets I own: Have always had cats as far as I can remember. Currently the owners of a Tabby kitten called "Ringo". He was born Weds 29/04/2015 & we got him Thursday 18/06/2015. He's just over 3 months old at time of writing. He is light grey with black Tiger stripes & he has black rings around his tail & back legs, hence the name "Ringo". Nothing to do at all about The Beatles. Now he has started to develop a beigey colour in his coat, & in some photos & different light, for some reason seems to have a slight orangey/ginger colour.
He's a right character, always friendly & loving & happy to see us, always following us around the house, always charging around & playing with his toys & stalking anything that moves, & then when he gets tired, jumps up for a fuss. Couldn't ask for a better cat. He's perrrfect.

Nothing new really to report except that when Ringo gets let out so we can clean his cage out (4-5 times a day at least), he bounds towards the living room door, so he's starting to use & put weight on his leg more. He wants to be so active with no medication, he has to spend most of his time laying down in his cage. We have to clean it out so much because he throws his litter all over the place. Cheryl reckons he does it on purpose because he knows he will be let out so the mess can be cleaned up again lol. I saw on Amazon the other day an orthopedic pet mattress with memory foam & I thought that as Ringo has got another 3 weeks in his cage, it might help him be a bit more comfortable laying on it with his pins. That came today. For some reason, Ringo has to lay on his pins on his bad left side instead of laying on his good right side. He didn't really like the sheepskin on top so we put a blanket on top instead. He prefers that. Also, being a 5 month old kitten wanting to play, I can't help thinking how bored he must be, so we got him a couple of Kong toys, the frog & the beaver. I thought he could play with them while laying down, they're not a toy that gets chased. I was going to give them to Ringo as they came because I've always thought cats shouldn't have catnip till 6 months, but Cheryl said to put a little bit in each, not alot, as he is 6 months old in 2 weeks on the 29th. Easy to remember as Ringo's birthday is the day before Cheryl's. He likes them both & it's nice to see him playing in his cage so he's not bored, but he's playing while laying & sitting down. He's not charging around. Cheryl says I spoil Ringo lol, but I just keep thinking how I would feel if it was me in the cage. I would want to be comfortable & have some sort of amusement.

As usual lovely photos, look at his little face now if thats not a face to try make you feel guilty then I don't know what is LOL J1M thanks for the updates its nice to follow his progress, too often someone will post on here get us interested then they dissappear in a puff of smoke never to be heard from again I said to Cheryl when I first started doing updates just after his operation, after all the advice & help & well wishes for Ringo, updates are the least we can do. It's nice to know people still care these days. Sometimes there might be days when nothing really happens so there might be nothing to report, but if anything happens or changes, I'll always post it here. Like today. While Cheryl was at the hospital visiting her mum, our son Zak & I had to take Ringo back to the vet. I said to Cheryl that I didn't really think the foam would work as the nut was digging into him so much. The nut has kept on rubbing & I didn't like the look of the wound & I didn't like the look of the foam. When Ringo was laying in the right position, I took the picture below & zoomed in on it to have a good look, to me it looked like it had got infected as well. Again Andrei, Ringo's surgeon wasn't there so we saw one of the other surgeons that was there. He agreed when I said the bolt for the pin clamp was set too close & had caused the wound, & Ringo would have to have an anesthetic to have the clamp moved higher away from his skin. Unfortunately, the wound has also got infected & is weeping, probably i was told, by all the different bacteria in his mouth & on his tongue. They took him out the back, cleaned the wound, changed his pin coverings, & then gave him a tablet of an antibiotic. After 20 minutes or so, a nurse brought Ringo out & said we need to make an appointment to bring Ringo in next week so Andrei can see him & do something about it. Our appointment is this Monday 19th at 6.15pm after work. They said they may have to keep Ringo in over night to do what ever they need to do. They have also taken blood to test to find out what is causing the infection. In the meantime, we are to give him tablets called Noroclav/Kesium 50mg, 1 tablet twice daily starting Sunday. They said tablets would be better than an injection incase they have to change the type of antibiotic when the results come back on Monday. I asked if they gave Ringo anything for his pain, I told them that if I had a sore like that it would be very painful so he must be in pain too. We can now give him some Metacam, so now I know he hasn't got to lay there in pain. Unfortunately now, he has got to wear his lamp shade, he's not allowed to lick his wound incase he adds bacteria with his mouth. He hates it, I don't blame him & I hated putting it on him while Cheryl held him still, but I keep telling myself it's for his own good. I can't wait till this is all over.

I dread to think how my two would react if they ever needed to wear a lampshade Apparently Chilli had one put on when she was spayed and Kirsten said she totally freaked out, was tearing around the living room and had to have it removed But darling Ringo....just LOOK at those eyes First Evil Mummy and Evil Daddy stick him in a cage and NOW they put this contraption on his head Poor wee man Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly in his check up tomorrow. I'm sure it will (((HUGS))) I can remember what it was like when our first Lily had her broken leg and it felt like it was never going to get better....especially when I got up one Sunday morning and she had somehow managed to SNAP the bar!!!!!! Simon the vet was baffled because he'd only ever seen that happen once before when a Weimaraner had jumped a fence and caught it's bar on the top post! How Lily had managed it in a crate which had the bars padded I'll never know!!! I'm sure it won't be long before Ringo is fit and well and you can fold that crate up and put it away After using up a few of his lives with this leg he'll probably never cause any more bother to you for the next 15+ years

Poor little lad, he's really in the wars. It will soon be a distant memory though.
Is all the extra vet visits putting more pressure on you money wise too? I'd think about sharing your gofundme page again on FaceBook and asking all your friends to reshare too.

Hope all goes well this evening J1M. Cazypops has a good idea about re-promoting the gofundme link. As Scallywag said they do know how to put on the "you're guilty" accusing look! This was our Roman in 2012 2012-06-28 18.02.22 by osiriscat, on Flickr
