I get home from work today, look at Bernie and notice he has a little hair loss on the front of one of his legs... Parting the hair reveals teeny tiny dots on the skin, scabs I presume...
Any ideas?
He's booked in at the vets on Sunday but it's making my brain rattle trying to think of what it might be...

Do you think the hair loss is due to him scratching because it's itching?
Has he been out in long grass where he could have had biting insects on his leg? Also are his other legs spot free under his coat?

gladys, I will take a photo when my boyfriend gets home with the phone. I have nothing else to snap it with. He fell asleep in the sun yesterday for a couple of hours, woke hot and stressed, over heated and threw up his tea. I had to put him in a cool bath to cool him down and get his breathing back to normal :/ Will upload photo as soon as I can.

tonib, the rest of him is absolutely fine, I have checked him over thoroughly. He isn't itching or biting it, in fact it doesn't seem to be bothering him at all :/

Might be a heat rash that his made worse by biting?? You have to remind these smoochie faced cuties that they can't lay in the sun all the time. I'm sure you know but don't make the bath to cool if you have to do it again. Nice tepid water is best so you don't put the body in to shock.

I was having a snooze at the time and he was asleep on the bedroom floor when the sun was shining in on it. Yeah, when I say cool I mean tepid.

Having read he was in the sun, & the impact that it had on him, I was thinking the same as Gladys - heat rash - I can vouch for the fact that is really itchy - the human treatment was calamine lotion & steroids - this was in the 70s so may well have changed & I've no idea what the treatment for dogs is. Hope you can ease it for him. Perhaps a phone call to your vets for advice before Sunday to see what can be done to relieve the itch until then.

I asked and they said not to do anything and to just bring him in on sunday.... annoyingly. I know what it's like having irritating skin conditions. I suffer from heat rash and dermatitis

I am most sure it is, but is his fleaing up to date?

Cooper has Aloe Vera on his skin, really soothes it down when his itchy or red.

If it's a heat rash you could try Canesten Hydrocortisone, can't promise it will cure it but may help. You can get it from any chemist but it's not cheap unfortunately.

I was going to suggest aloe vera like Gladys mentioned. Poor Bernie! Hope it clears up soon.
