Has anyone tried using Statigram? I've tried several different URLs, but all I ever got was the red x. ~ I'd love to post pics without having to sign up for a new internet service, if at all possible.

The forum space limit was reached, therefore you can't currently upload photos from your computer directly to the forum (I don't think, I haven't tried it recently...) Photobucket is great though, a straightforward service to use.

shadrak, Sorry I've not heard of Statigram before. I did have a look on the web but not sure that it would do the job. As far as I understand it it works with Instagram but nowhere could I find a way on either of those to get the url of individual photos hosted on the instagram service. Doesn't mean its not possible just the information wasn't available in the areas I looked. If you do get a direct link url then you need to use the insert image icon on the reply/create post window. If they provide a BBCode option then it can be pasted directly into your post.

1mb for photos is a bit small, my standard photos are around the 4mb size. Don't want to use photo bucket or any other 3rd party systems. Any ideas how to re-save into anther format to reduce photos below the 1mb limit?

Sorry longhope no advice here except that the attachment space here will probably soon be used up again, and I can only recommend photo bucket. I am not a flicker person, but have absolutely no issues with photo bucket. The flicker users seem to get along ok with the set up, I think it boils down to what you are used to ? Good Luck which way you chose to go .

Any ideas how to re-save into anther format to reduce photos below the 1mb limit? If you have a computer like a Mac, there are lot's of photo editing tools. You could maybe fiddle with the size this way. It is fine if you don't want to use PhotoBucket but I do like it and it is really easy to get around. There is also Flickr and this Statigram thing. Good luck with whatever way you choose to go

Once logged onto PB at the top of the page click on UPLOAD Next screen Click on BROWSE this takes you to where your photos are stored on your computer Click on the picture you want to use Click on the word OPEN found on the bottom right of your screen You will then be taken back to your Photo Bucket screen and should see your photo down bottom left corner being uploaded Click on VIEW Library Top of the page Hover over the picture, a cogg wheel then appears top right of the photo, hover over that and then Choose GET LINKS Click on the bottom link titled IMG Code and starts with the letter URL ( the link should then turn yellow and say COPIED ) Come back to the forum, type your message... then Right click, and paste Once the link is showing in your message box, I click on Preview to double check what I have written and also the position of my photo If you spot a mistake or want to add more pics click back onto the BBCode and alter / add more photo's Toggle between Preview and BBCode until you are happy, then click on Create post

REVISED VERSION FOR REVIEWDon't worry if you've tried using the attachment option & get an error about not enough space as the forum, sadly, no longer has space to store photos so you have to use a hosting service such as photobucket or flickr (there are others) or use links to pictures on other websites such as facebook. The Help Index also has links to instructions on how to get the share links from some of the hosting services (Photobucket) see here Link to Help/FAQ IndexHere's the instructions on how to put pictures into a post - If the photo hosting service provides an IMG or BBCode link in their share options
- Copy that share link and paste it into the post at the correct point
- If it doesn't then you will need the direct url of the photo. If the service has a share option then it may be given there or use your PC/web browser's facilities to copy the url of the image - often right mouse click & copy image url.
- use the button that looks like a picture just above the box for typing your message in
- A pop-up asking for the url will appear & you can insert the details from facebook (or wherever)
We would suggest that you do not use the Quick Reply posting option but use the Create Post or Reply options until you have got the hang of this. Both have the option to view your post as BBCode or Preview. The picture will not be visible in the BBCode option just the computer code. However if you switch to the Preview tab then the picture should be visible. If your default tab is the Preview & the code is still showing trying switching to BBCode & back to Preview. It should now be visible. Sometimes it needs a nudge to work out what the code is telling it to do!

Revised again. Won't need to revise the thread as the final version is the one that will be linked to in the Index and we point members to the Index!!!! We could rename this thread to put something in the title to reflect it is a work in progress or the like
