I've always wondered where our boys go & what they get up to especially Roman. I've looked at the various GPS locators/recorders & also the cameras. I found this one Cat camI know christine uses the Loc8tor but not sure how far away you can get the fix on the cat. There are others out there that do more but I must admit that they really are dear (not for what they are but ...) the latest one will be g-paws tracker but it's not a find your cat just records where they've been. I'm thinking about the camera idea as it might help us see what happens between him & Lexie when we're not there. Has anyone used anything like this?

Oh I've got a good idea of what's going on but would like proof. As to resolving it I think we're making headway after taking advice from a behavourist last November but it is slow 1.5 steps forward, then 1 back!

I haven't considered this, but it sounds like a good idea - another way for keeping your pet safe

Ginge, now that's an idea - perhaps it can be used to blackmail them into not putting it on me, although if they see what that Lexie does to me maybe they'll sort her out more. Roman

When one does find out whats occuring - surely one can never percieve the situation the same as they do. If we could train them say like dogs - i think then their appeal would diminsh.

I know christine uses the Loc8tor but not sure how far away you can get the fix on the cat. The loc8tor range is 122m or 400 yards in old money. I would be lost without mine. I am still very nervous about letting them out and just beeping them from indoors to make sure they are in the woods sets my mind at rest. It doesn't tell you where they have been though, it is purely a tracking device which tells you where they are now.

I bought a Loc8tor for Leroy but it doesn't bleep until I can see him anyway so for me I was not impressed. I wouldn't trust him with a Cat Cam you've seen him in the undergrowth he certainly wouldn't come home with it.

I've never used one but often wonder what they get up to at night in their room or whenever any of them have been poorly, it would be nice to know which one has been sick.

Hmm, it sounds like there is some interest but other than the loc8tor no users. 400 yds probably wouldn't be enough for us to find Roman, although I suspect it might work for Roman & Lexie. However it might be worth it in collar recovery, which I think Christine has mentioned! I suppose a loc8tor attached to the Catcam might be the answer - so if lost it could be found Oh well I'll think about it . If I do get one I might consider lending it if asked

I wouldn't trust him with a Cat Cam you've seen him in the undergrowth he certainly wouldn't come home with it. Elaine, I don't think your loc8tor is working if you can see Leroy before it picks up his signal. Mine gets a signal through my house walls, a hay barn and numerous trees. It starts off quite weak, just one or two red lights, but gets a full green light within 20 yards of the required cat. "400 yds probably wouldn't be enough for us to find Roman, although I suspect it might work for Roman & Lexie. However it might be worth it in collar recovery, which I think Christine has mentioned! "Toni, I have recovered two collars this week. For one of them I had to crawl on my belly under a hedge. Both kittens now have more grown up collars with slightly more robust catches. (They really aren't kittens any more, they are almost 9 months old, although Poppy still only weighs 2.9kg) I suppose a loc8tor attached to the Catcam might be the answer - so if lost it could be found I thought of this, but it would be too bulky. The casing for the loc8tor is about 2 inches long, a lot of space on Poppys collar. Add to that her disc and the catch of the collar and there is no room left.
