There were members like that on the old forum I had noticed - members who bothered to join but didn't bother to use the forum or the community (we had a community page) correctly. We're a friednly bunch, and haven't had any possibly slightly unfriednly threads to put them off. We're a friendly bunch and would love more members to come along and benefit from the forum. There's no point being a member just to read the threads - you can do that without a membership. I wonder too...

Loads of people do that on forums so they can assess all areas of the forum. I know I have joined two forums just so I can gain info on certain things.

We cannot force people to post. It is their business whether they do or do not post on the forum.

One or 2 might be ones set up so YourPet can test things out (I recognise some from a very early date). I see one, at least, who used the shoutbox only to communicate their cat died. Someone copied it into a post as well. Still doesn't account for 97. But there will always be those who register & decide its not for them, sadly.

I don't post much but I do read bits, for me, it's the fact I don't have that much time, especially on week nights!

Maybe they're just shy, and don't feel like they can join in on other peoples conversations. Took me a while to pluck up courage.

I'm not even going to go there, not getting into some stupid argument Sorry, but you said 'I just thought it would be another thread to read'. To me this implied that it was a 'just for the sake of it' thread. Sorry for taking it the wrong way, via internet its sometimes easy to misunderstand.
