Hello Paige - welcome to the pet forum. I'm Jenny and I have 7 cats and 2 dogs. I love your dogs; lovely photos of them all. I have to ask - what made you get a Doberman puppy after 3 Miniature Dachshunds? - I am intrigued. Keke is a beautiful puppy.

Thank you for all the welcomes! I'm sure me and my family will fit in perfectly on this forum Also thank you for all of the comments on the pictures of my dogs, they all blushed I must say! Hello Gladys! Dachshunds are amazing, strong willed, loving little dogs! All of mine are very different to, not one has the same personality. If you were thinking of getting one I would say go for it! They are brilliant but also very stubborn at times haha And hello lotsofcats! interesting question... I have been asked that quite a lot by family members and all I can say is dobermans have been one of my favourite breeds since I can remember, I have just moved into a bigger house with a very big garden and thought it was the right time to get a big dog. Dobermans were always my number one on the list of big dogs I was going to eventually get... and it is very weird after three years of dachshunds to have a dog with long legs haha! Thanks again for the welcomes and I have to say ALL of your dogs and cats are beautiful!

That's such a cute picture of them all sleeping together! They look like best of friends. At the moment Keke looks like a big dachshund - kinda! Although she most likely won't stay that way for long!

If you were thinking of getting one I would say go for it! They are brilliant but also very stubborn at times haha Ooh I was a bit worried I had scared you off with my over enthusiastic greeting?!? Well we have a Boston Terrier who can be stubborn (but very cute) so I think we will be ok. I just get mixed views when I say we are thinking of getting one!! So your insight to the breed would be fantastic, if you don't mind?? We went and met with a breeder the other week and I ended up with 4 mini Daxies on my lap all at once, which was PawSome!! I hope you don't mind but I've add this photo of My Boy Cooper to show him to you. Cooper in his jumper my mum made. I love the photo of all your fur family sharing a bed.

Haha of course you didn't gladys! Aw I'm sure they would get on just fine then, stubborn dogs are the best! Any questions about dachshunds feel free to ask me and I'll answer you as best I can, I love trying to help people and answer questions about the breed its nice talking about it. Yes thats daxies all over they love their cuddles and snuggling. When I have Cookie in bed with me she either stays cuddled up in my arms all night without moving or curls up under the covers, they love fuss and cuddles and anything to do with snuggling really. Of course I don't mind he is very handsome, what a beautiful dog! And I love the jumper, my daxies wear jumpers as their smooth coats don't really hold very much heat when we go out for walks, but they love wearing anything especially Dasher! I put him in one of Cookies polka dot dresses the other day and he absolutely loved it! And thank you, they are all the best of friends and get on so well! I would love to see more pictures of Cooper to he is lovely!

I had 3 on my lap and the 4th keep trying to squeeze on somewhere and ended up squashing the others, who didn't seem to care as long as they had huggles. So first question, What are they like off lead? Can you teach a good recall or does the hound win and they go off looking for holes to get stuck in?!?

Hello again Gladys (I don't know how to quote properly yet) They are mainly good off of the lead, we have trained them on the 20m leashes so they get used to the straying off and coming back, Dasher goes to a one on one trainer at the moment for recall, we have been twice so far and he has picked it up extremely quickly. We are not using a lead in the next session to see how he gets on with that. Poppit is very good at recall and comes back as soon as her name is said, but Cookie is a little stubborn and can be a pain on some walks but that's just dachshunds. I think its mainly to do with the temperament and personality of the pup you get and early training really, snd they love to chase birds

Ahh thank you I thought it may have been the quote button but wasn't to sure. Thank you! No worries ask me anything you want I'll answer as best I can, Cookie is a real barker! She barks at the TV, the doorbell, when she hears a bang outside, when strangers enter the house but is easily corrected, dog training programmes are the worst but she has also been barking at fish and crocodiles lately haha. Dasher barks twice and thats all you hear from him, he is very quiet most of the time he is a very good boy, Poppit hasen't found her bark yet but i'm sure she will in time although she has been play barking with Keke and thats the first time she has ever made a noise. As for digging we never have really had that problem, they dig at their blankets and when they go to the beach but never really to much. Hope my answers are helpful!

Thanks kekedobie Yeah I'm hoping that if the barking gets a little much I can use Coopers none barking ways to teach the daxie. Cooper only barks if there is someone at the door or when his playing. Right last 2 questions (for now) What was house training like? I have hear horror stories of people still having adult dachshunds going to the toilet in the house and blaming the fact they are 'small' dogs. I know they are stubborn but how did you find it with your three? How are they with strange people and new dogs? Are they happy to meet them? Oh and can I have some more photos please?? I need a daxie fix, the wait is murder!!
