I can't decide if Elphie is just fat or pregnant but I'm going more towards pregnant...her body shape is different from Letti's, Letti is more kind of long n chubby like a erm oval kind of shape where as for Elphie she is more shaped like a pear or something you can see this more from under her as she has allot of crests which make looking at her body shape allot harder.
I weighed Elphie & Letti and there is now 100g a difference between them and they are the same age. I'm going to weigh them again later incase the readings were wrong in some way.
What I'm looking for is physical signs to look for in Elphie that would show she is pregnant and also behavioural differances that I should look out for? Would her behaviour change towards Letti in anyway?
Care of an expecting Guinea pig advice? Even something I can start doing that wont harm her if she isn't?
Would pictures help to tell if she is prgnant?

Not a flattering picture of Elphaba but this is my little girl who I think may be pregnant. Does this pic help? What do u all think? If anyone needs her in another position let me know & I will try my best and get it for you.

To be honest, that just looks normal to me. I have 2 10 week old pigs and there's a noticeable difference between the two, one is greedier than the other, who also does more exercise.
Have you double checked the sexes to make sure?

Do you see them humping at all? Boys are usually quite easy to sex, but its very common for pet shops to mis-sex them as babies, so who knows, you could have babies on the way!

They are the easiest animals to sex without a doubt. Hmm.. Although... I did have one of the vets where I work get it wrong the other day..... She had to ask me to double check

I used to breed guinea pigs.
They are easy to sex, so use the web if youre having trouble. If you have a boy and girl, then she will be pregnant. They tend to look like they have swallowed a football with about 4 weeks of conceiving, so there will be no doubt. If she is pregnant, make sure she has more food and bedding. Just to warn you, that GPs have a VERY high mortality rate with their babies. There is a big chance she will loose one, and you should be prepared for that. Other than that, she will take care of herself. You can feel babies moving from around 6 weeks, just be very gentle with her! And when they have babies, you MUST separate the males and females at 6 weeks and the father should be removed from the mother BEFORE she gives birth as he will mate with her again INSTANTLY after she gives birth! Good luck! x

And sorry to say it, but Pets at Home are notorious for selling mis-sexed animals, so I would say if they are from there especially, they could well be male and female. I can't tell you the number of litters I have known of thanks to them.

There are still colleagues that have been there for 5+ years and can't sex rabbits or rats!

Yeah it definitely depends on the staff at individual stores. The Inverness one is 50/50, some are fine and some are hopeless. Last time I even sexed a rabbit for a member of staff because she really didn't know. And I saw one lift a hamster out and say its definitely a girl, so I stepped in and pointed out two rather large testicles, to which he replied, oh, I didn't see those.

I did get them both from Pets at Home both sold as female, I'm pretty sure they are both female but Letti & Elphie are the fuirst GPs Ive had so I'm not overly confident on the sexing, even though I've read up on it loads of times, check out loads of pictures which always seem to be more clearer than when I check my 2 lol.
I've got an appointment today to have them both check so will soon find out what the verdict is, I'm like an excited Gran waiting to find out but then another part of me is saying it would be best if she isn't lol. I just hate the waiting I want to know now but earliest appointment I could get was 2.10pm lol
Thank you everyone for all the replies

Pahaha, oh dear, I really shouldn't laugh but sometimes I wish they wouldn't just guess. I only recently got much better with sexing snakes but in the past if I didn't know, I'd tell them I didn't know and grab someone that I knew might. Customers will respect you a lot more for being honest.

Sad day when your telling people who have been "trained" how to do their job but that did make me laugh reading that lol

You should have been given a copy. If they were wrongly sexed, they should offer to help you out by discounting or even giving you a free cage so that you can separate them. They may ask to see the gpigs to confirm they were wrongly sexed before they can help you out. If they don't off to help you out, contact customer services.

Yes I still have all the paperwork for them. I've had them for about 7weeks now. I hope they do help out if she is pregnant, as it would be no fault of my own except being inexperienced in sexing GPs myself lol I did get them both from Pets at Home both sold as female, I'm pretty sure they are both female but Letti & Elphie are the fuirst GPs Ive had so I'm not overly confident on the sexing, even though I've read up on it loads of times, check out loads of pictures which always seem to be more clearer than when I check my 2 lol.
