Not only has the garden flourished but so has the wildlife (apologises for some of the quality as most were taken through our kitchen window. We have wood pigeons daily - very greedy & messy - we're growing a lovely selection of grasses etc. under the feeder from the spillage!! Wood Pigeons 2017_05_22 P1050001 by osiriscat, on Flickr Together with collared doves & the squirrel(s) they are responsible for us having to refill at least 2 of the 3 feeders every 2 days!! Always the seeds with the other varying between the peanuts or fat balls!! Grey squirrel 2017_03_26 P1040947 by osiriscat, on Flickr We've had a jay on the odd occasion for a few of years but this year we've regularly had jays, the most I saw at one time was 3. Also we have the not so wildlife visitors:- The black cat from a few doors down Neighbour's cat 2017_03_28 P1040952 by osiriscat, on Flickr a new Ginger this year, we think he's a stray/feral. We thought he was an unneutered tom when he & Osiris were debating the right to our garden Oisris & a Ginger visitor 2017_P1050114 by osiriscat, on Flickr & this photo of him disappearing into a neighbour's front garden seems to confirm it Ginger stranger in neighbour's garden 2017_07_05 P1050126 by osiriscat, on Flickr Interestingly he is a good example of a classic tabby lotsofcats - not so common round here.

Well, nobody has posted on here for years. Somehow I missed this last post by tonib , with the lovely pics of the birds, especially the Jay and a squirrel. And the lovely Osiris and Roman in the garden. I just thought I'd pop a few pics of my garden flowers on here. If I ever sell my house it will definitely be in April, May or June. The garden might sell it, the inside certainly wouldn't!! It needs decorating from top to bottom and a new kitchen and bathroom. , on Flickr , on Flickr , on Flickr on Flickr , on Flickr , on Flickr , on Flickr , on Flickr

What a lovely garden lotsofcats & so nice & tidy, mine is flourishing this year but is decidedly overgrown. My roses are doing well in fact to much. By the way you were right about Osiris but that ginger wasn't Roman but a regular passer through, possible stray/feral as he doesn't look neutered. Haven't seen it for a couple of years. Sadly the black cat is no more but the neighbour now has another one. Looking at the photo makes me realise how alike the neighbours old & new cats are. On Saturday when we were getting close to a thunder/lightening storm I decided to at least save some off one bush called Crocus Rose (for Macmillan Cancer) as a couple of the branches had grown long & entangled with so many blooms that they were almost touching the ground. So I cut off just one branch to reduce the weight on the other & then cut the actual roses for a vase or in this case one vase, a bud vase & a couple of blooms in a small vase as their stems wee to short for the other 2. Whilst trimming them down outside, with the excess going in the council's green waste bin ( or is not sign of black spot etc in my compost bin the rain came down. I was only a few minutes in the rain & I was soaked!! But they are looking nice in the house, safely out of the risk of damage from Shady who has this tendency to be a bit clumsy or is that excited if there is any chance of getting food even if it is just a fly. Yes he does catch & eat them but doesn't care what gets in his way!!!

Glad that you saved your roses before the rain came, even if you did get a soaking! I hadn't looked that closely at the ginger cat in the photo!!, but now you mention it, how did I miss them?
Kai Ruki used to eat flies. I take it that it was Shady that caught the pigeon recently?

lotsofcats, You're right about the pigeon & fly catcher but Stevie brought in a very recently deceased sparrow a couple of days ago, he was crying to let me know he was there & had something, he was just carrying it around but didn't seem interested in eating,. It was easy to take from him. It's odd Roman only brought home mouse/bird (can't remember which) which had to be taken from him. After that he never brought anything back home but we did see him eating sometimes on the back lawn!. Whereas Osiris brought things back in various conditions, letting me know that he was there with something, but very quickly lost interest & just left it alone & wandered off - hence the late night mouse searches!!! I just hope that these 2 newbies don't do that. Shady didn't attempt to bring his 2nd pigeon in but he wouldn't have succeeded as I locked the catflap as soon as I saw he'd got it in the garden until I'd got it from him. The indoor roses are doing Ok now a few are dropping petals but the rest are still looking good. There's a lot of rose petals on the round outside but still plenty of roses on the bushes.

Glad the roses are ok. Does Stevie catch any birds, or is it just Shady?

He was just pleased to give you a 'thank you' present tonib. Do the newbies wander far?

Shady doesn't go far, but Stevie wanders a bot further around more like Osiris did rather than (young) Roman's long treks. However about 45 minutes ago he brought a most unusual present. I've been spending a while trying to see what I can do with it. I heard him crying & when I went to see he had a bird's egg I think its a collared dove but possibly a wood pigeon (both small plain white with the wood pigeon being slightly larger). It was still warm & I've been trying to keep it warm but I don't have any hot water bottles but have just heated a cool pack in the microwave & will see if that does the trick.
All the local rescues that take birds are not answering the phone, in fact I've found of the rescues FB page & unfortunately they aren't able to take birds at the moment as the person who cares for them has injured their wrist. However I found one a bit further away that gave me a link to a FB group that might be able to help. Just need their admins to approve my joining of the group.;

The FB group were able to help & I drove to about 30 minutes away to someone who has an incubator. They've subsequently messaged me to say that the egg is viable & they'll know more tomorrow when its warmed up properly & settled. While I was at their door the lady pointed out a collared dove on the roof across the road & said that the one she last incubated Neither of could believe that Stevie carried the egg in his mouth from whereas he found it, through the catflap & just put it on the kitchen floor without any damage & then called me. He was just laying there with it in front of him looking at me, letting me take it without any issue. I've described him as a cat who prefers peace to war.

It will be lovely if the egg hatches and you might be able to go and see the collared dove. Stevie is definitely keeping you entertained.
