I bet it was a shock! I'm assuming the missing teeth don't bother him then? As the worst offenders are Jasper's very back ones I'm wondering how he'll chew his food. I suppose they adapt quite easily though. This is the first time we've had an issue with teeth so it's all new! The Logic Gel sounds like a better way to go than plaque off. The problem I've found with plaque off is that if he doesn't eat, he doesn't get it. So having something to put directly onto the teeth would be better. Thanks migsy, I'll look into the gel And how bizarre! It just shows that no two are ever the same!

He hasn't had the best day! He rolled in something lovely and smelly this morning though Orpheus so that was a high for him I guess Yes, it's really annoying! Especially when I've already told her that he's prone to diabetes at this age. Haha! Oh yes, I'm sure that was the highlight of his day. I'm glad it's not just mine who rolls in yucky stuff! I've just brushed something out of Pepper's hair that she'd rolled in this morning - god knows what it was! Oh, I bet. I'm lucky, my mam and dad won't give the dogs anything they're not supposed to without asking me first. But if my grandma's around I have to watch them like a hawk because she would give them anything they begged for like she does with her own dog. We had a BBQ last night (hence the garlic bread) and I caught Ellie in the bin bag after everyone left, attempting to pull a chicken bone out! I can only hope that she didn't get any before I caught her. Oh, also, after reading the rest of the thread, if you go here: www.logicforpets.co.uk, you can get a free sample of Logic gel. I doubt it'll last for too long but it might be good to see if it's going to work for Jasper. I claimed one a couple of weeks ago, but it hasn't arrived yet.

He's never rolled in anything before! I'm assuming we must have been the first people out and he rolled because no other dog had gotten to it first >.< It was a nice present for the vet lol! And oh no! I hope she didnt get anything out the bin! People just assume that you treat your dog the same way as they do. Especially when people say 'oh I just can't resist those eyes!' Ooh thanks for the link! I'll get some ordered

Poor Jasper. I'm sure he will be fine and please keep us posted. If he is slightly over weight and has a low heart rate then a Thyroid problem would explain it. Are they going to do blood work?

Missed your comment Migsy! Good to know that it didn't bother him think I'm worrying for nothing lol. Although he is a bit of a drama queen. And yeah they are Gladys. They said they'll do it all while he's under anaesthetic. Obviously we'll have to pay for that and his ear flush if he needs it. Can't believe the price of half the stuff on the breakdown list! I did think that being 'super fit' was unlikely if he's overweight - I'm hoping its not a thyroid problem and it is just a case of too many scraps though. He's generally fit otherwise, just a little chunky round the middle apparently!

Yeah I can imagine the price of it all, the blood tests alone aren't cheap. Sounds like his in safe hands so try not to worry but I know you will. Regarding the thyroid does Jasper sleep a lot (more than an average dog). With slow heart rate and weight gain is would be an under active thyroid (Hypothyroidism) and when treated the weight should go. Does he have any hair loss? Usually on the front of the neck and chest. Possibly the sides of body, thighs and the top of the tail. I wouldn't worry about it if it is a Thyroid problem as there is no real on going problems if caught in time and treated. And it can be kept under control with daily thyroid hormone replacement, that will only be a pain if your insurance doesn't pay for it. Are you on a life cover?

We were quoted £282 for everything! And no he doesn't, not really. He'll lie about during the day awake, but that's mainly because I'm busy so he just entertains himself. He's fairly active otherwise. And he doesn't have any hair loss either! And yes we have lifetime cover I'm not sure what the maximum they pay out per year. I think we have the middle cover because we couldn't really afford the highest one. Good to know that it's not too serious! Over heard of dogs having hyperthyroidism but I've never known any with hypo so it's not something I really m ow about! Thanks Gladys

Well, I've just booked his appointment for his dental, bloods and possibly ear flush. He's going in next Monday at 8:40am and to say I'm absolutely terrified is an understatement.

Oh charlottte I can understand fully how worried you are But Jasper is young and as far as the vets are concerned it's an everyday procedure, so try not to worry to much and he will be all shiny toothed, clean eared and raring to go in no time!!

Thanks guys I know they do loads of procedures every day but it doesn't stop you worrying lol! He'll probably be a right grump afterwards (more so than usual!) but I'm hoping his mouth won't be in as much pain!
