I gave Bernie a 'Paddywack' treat for the first time the other night and his stools have been loose since and are showing no sign of getting better. The treats have since gone in the bin and all he has been having is his kibble.
Any tips to sort his tum out? Starve him? Feed him chicken and rice? Other? What's best?

Id say depends on how loose. Loose or liquid. Keep in mind the heat can also cause them to be loose

Jasper has a problem with loose stools. He's fed dry food with a bit of wet in as well. The dry should firm them up, but apparently not. I add some bran flakes to his food sometimes and it seems to help firm them up. They're not rock solid, but it helps. I think Gladys also mentioned that she uses a bit of grated carrot in Coopers food as well. I'll be keeping an eye on this as its something jasper has a problem with. I'm also bringing it up with the vet when we go today so ill see if they can recommend anything

Yeah how loose is loose?? If it's still coming out in the form of a poop but just runny then I would feed kibble for two days and see what happens. You could add grated carrot for the fiber. Or buy Tinned Pumpkin as it contains dietary fiber to sooth the digestive tract, absorb moisture and firm the stool. But I did have trouble getting it from any shops and ended up buying it on Amazon. Just search for Libby's 100% Pure Pumpkin but it can be quite pricey buying it that way.

Ooh charlottte we must of typed at the same time but then the postie came to the door. And now the hubby came in and started talking to me so this is a really late reply?? Yeah Cooper gets grated carrot every meal (twice a day) to help with firm stools and help anal glands.

I would probably not be feeding Beau for a day, defro the vets, been there done that, they gave me something and for life of me can't think what it is called but it was equivalent to Kaolin for us. Good Luck and Hope all goes well, make sure he drinks plenty, you don't want dehydration added to the list and that can happen if he is that bad petitsfilous

Thank you all for the advice, I'm going to try the grated carrot today and if it hasn't improved by tomorrow I'll pop him into the vets.

When Earl had the same problem when he ate something his stomach didn't agree with, time simply heeled and his stools were back to normal later the following day.
Hope he gets back to usual soon.

When Ellie had that, I got some pro-kolin paste off Amazon which works pretty well. I have read that the Yum-Pro probiotic stuff works too, but I haven't used that myself.
