Bella went missing today the last time anyone saw her was early this morning and it’s totally out of character for her miss any meals from the moment I got home at 4pm I’ve been searching for her I’ve never been more scared I really felt I was never going to see her again, she doesn’t normally leave the garden but during my search I did find a hole had been dug under some bushes by what I can only assume is a foxy (anyway that’s getting blocked up tomorrow) after 5 hours of searching checking with neighbours etc I decided to put up a Facebook post for people to check their gardens & sheds and just as I posted she strolled in I’ve never been more relieved, she has obviously been trapped somewhere as she’s totally exhausted, I’m a bit worried though as she hasn’t eaten anything and seems to have a sore throat as she keeps gulping but she has had a drink there’s no obvious signs of injury but I’m a little concerned maybe time for a checkup at the vets, think maybe she’s been meowing so much to get attention she’s hurt her throat Xxx

Poor Bella, I hope she's ok soon. You must have been so worried. Keep her in for a bit. I would take her to the vet if she doesn't seem better in the morning.

I know exactly how worrying it is when a cat doesn't appear at normal times.
Glad Bella is home Ok but a check up at the vets if. she's not better in the morning sounds a good idea

So Bella’s not eaten properly since her disappearing act so she’s lost a fair bit of weight the vet thinks she’s probably eaten something she shouldn’t have done so she’s been given an anti sickness jab & some paste to settle her tummy which she will need twice a day for at least 2 days and fed little & often chicken & white fish, everything else is fine with her healthy heart no lumps & temp normal so happy with that, although she did say one of her thyroids felt a little raised but she doesn’t think it’s that but monitoring the situation Xxx anyway first bit of chicken done & she’s eaten a bit 🤞Xxx

That's a worry off your mind having a suggestion off the vet for Bella's upset. The medication should help her to feel better and hopefully she will now eat some more food. Get better soon Bella.

molly9, How's Bella today? With having had 2 cats with thyroid issues (Penny & Roman, both HyperT) weight loss can be the result of that but they are normally voracious eaters as well so that doesn't sound like Bella. I presume that regardless of Bella's current issues which hopefully will be quickly resolved, your vet will be keeping an eye on the thyroid & possibly running senior blood tests including T4 at her next 6 month/annual check up.
