I bought Alfie a new kong today (was using Tilly's old puppy kong, so it's a tad small for him) for when he goes into his crate. He suffers from separation anxiety, so have been using the kong and scattering biscuits around his crate to keep him occupied while we are out. The kong has worked the last few times, though today he didn't touch it (odd, considering he is a dog whos food rules his head). Despite not long making it before giving it him, I put it in the freezer for abit while I got ready. I'm wondering whether it could have been because it was chilled, or because I've been using the same treats every time. I've been using some Pedigree Schmackos/Cheesy Bites, Harrington Training Treats, dog chocolate buttons, Fish4Dogs Super Stars and some wet food. Any suggestions as to what other food I could use, please? Thankyou! bectil

I use raw mince, wet food, veg mix, cheese, banana, honey, fruit mix, probiotic yogurt, peanut butter, scrambled egg, regular treats, kibble.
And I mix and match. Some have to be frozen (yogurt) and others dont. They do last longer frozen. If he gets a kong, he doesnt get breakfast.(usually his breakfast is in it)
When I stuff the kong, the best stuff goes to the bottom and the hole is covered with PB or coconut oil or similar.
I use everything and anything in them really. Oscar loves scrambled egg and cheese kongs , but they are for special days only. (Scramble raw egg in dish, but selotape on bottom hole of kong, pour egg in kong till its half full. Cover in cheese. Place in mug to keep upright. Microwave for 1 minute. Watch closely though, i had an egg explosion when I first did it. Leave to cool and stuff big hole shut with cheese. )
I'd give some more but I'm on the tab right now.

Pâté is another good one, I stuffed too much in once and dog got bored they couldn't get it out, maybe frozen was too difficult?

Well Riley loves Scrambled eggs Toast with a little peanut butter which i normaly give him when i leave for work. Wet food although he does get frustrated as it is really dificult to get out. Sausage Anything i can think of really but his favourite is toast/scrambled egg.

I only put a slither of peanut butter on as i am not really sure whether dogs should have peanut butter or not but Riley adores it and i have seen Cesar milan givin peanut butter when training.

My two love peanut butter chantel! I don't give them a lot though, and last time I made biscuits, I used half fat peanut butter which made me feel a bit better! Ellie used to get her kibble and wet food in two Kongs as she ate too fast, but now they're on raw food, I haven't filled a Kong for nearly a week! I'm going to start using them as treats now, but I'm not sure what to put in either. I'd like to feed part of their meals in them somehow.

I sometimes soak Riley's kibble and put half of his lunch into his kong , it keeps him busy for a while. I too don't put too much peanut butter on his toast like i said just a slither.

Earl gets just the usual KONG treats... I would love to really fill it with tasty treats aside from the usual treats - I think Earl would love it! If you want to stay basic you can get the original KONG paste, which is almost the same as peanut butter

How long does it take a dog to remove peanut butter/paste from inside a KONG? How long is a piece of string?
