Tosha gets RC obesity, RC weight care and Hills perfect weight. When I noticed that she prefers weight care I ordered a big bag, so now she asks for the others of course.

I have bought the James Wellbeloved Light fish flavoured dry food for Kali and Toffee as I know they really love it - I bought the light variety by mistake a few months ago and all of the cats loved it. I will just have to feed those 2 separately, easy with Toffee as he is always separate from the others but not so easy with Kali which is how she has got to be a little pudding, she goes around eating the leftovers! At the moment when I get the cats in from the pen all of the cats except Kai Ruki are fed in the living room. For some reason (he's an odd boy!) Kai Ruki likes to eat his food alone in the kitchen. I will also feed Kali in the kitchen and when she has finished I will have to keep her away from the rest of the food. Roman has done well tonib.

It is awkward in a multi-cat household lotsofcats, luckily we had the microchip feeders so we can control who gets what (food or medcines) but that would be rather expensive for your gang. When Penny had to lose weight a few years ago (like Kali she was hoovering up after the others while we were at work!) we resorted to feeding Roman & Osiris on worktops as, with her arthritis, she couldn't jump up there. With Toffee I hope he doesn't supplement his diet elsewhere!

Took another urine sample to the vets on Wednesday. One of the other vets phoned me on Thursday and said that it stell contained crystals and he was on the phone to me for over 10 minutes discussing what we could do. He asked about the food I was giving to Bramble for her problem and I discovered where I'd been going wrong, I was letting her have other biscuits in the cat pen and the vet said that eating them would undo all the good that the special food was doing!! I can't believe I'm so stupid and didn't even consider it! So Bramble can only have the specialist dried food. I put biscuits in the cat pen when they all go out in the morning so now I will just put a small amount of the special ones - that amount should also help Kali with her diet. The vet also told me to try and get Bramble to drink lots so I am putting water in her wet food. He stated that cats tend not to drink much because they don't like the taste of fluorine in the water and to collect rain water or boil the water first. Fingers crossed Bramble's next urine sample in a month's time shows improvements.

Nice to have a vet that can spend time over the phone to talk throught things lotsofcats. I appreciated the time the vet took with me over Lexie's recent liver issue, especially trying to think what could have caused it when the blood samples were back to normal in less than 2 weeks. Sorry to hear Bramble's still got crystals but hopefully making sure she only gets the special kibble will do the trick. I hope the others appreciate the special kibble & it helping Kali with her diet is a plus. Good point about the fluorine - hadn't thought about that for ours - I wonder if that's why cats can be seen drinking from dirty puddles, which in its turn can be dangerous if its on driveways (spilt de-icer etc.) I also wonder if water fountain filters help remove the fluorine as both Lexie & Penny preferred a fountain (different ones!), we thought that had more to do with moving water but it could be taste. Oddly Lexie seems to be using the water bowls now so go figure!!!
