Oh that's good to know scallywag . Bandit continues to improve, but it's still early days. Jasper is back to normal in his self, and I'm told by the OH that he had some chicken earlier, so we're going to try him with a small meal later when he gets back from his walk. (fingers crossed)

Sorry to hear Bandit's got a throat ulcer cazypops , but glad she's has picked up a bit after the meds. At least your vet is sensible & gives the long-lasting injection rather than a 24 hour plus tablets or liquid to give at home. I only recently found out there were long lasting injections available but deliberately ask for them now for cats hard to pill. Apparently they're more expensive which is why our vets don't routinely give them!Hope Jasper's soon OK again & no vet visit required. You're certainly having a time of it recently. scallywag do you think Beau's been chatting to Jasper & they're going for the sympathy up-chuck? Hope's he's recovered soon. Sorry tonib, I meant to say, the price wasn't that bad really. £25 and that included the consultation too.

Bandit was back at the vet tonight. She had started showing the same symptoms as before, (difficulty eating, pawing at her mouth drinking a bit more) anyway, she has a loose canine tooth that needs to come out, so she's back in the morning to be sedated and have a good check up while he's at it. I forgot to ask the vet do I need to fast her and from what time. Is it ten o'clock tonight for food, but what time for water? tonib, lotsofcats!!!!

I don't know about the fasting, sorry, but I hope it's nothing too serious and she's on the mend again soon. xxx

cazypops, the advice from our vets had varied a bit. Always 10 pm for food & we've been told in the past 8 am for water but recently we were told 10 pm for water as well but I've always taken water away by 8 am & no problem. My friend Elaine has even taken cat to the vets having fed them early in the morning but then it can depend on when they are due the anaesthetic. Poor Bandit, hope all goes well tomorrow & she feels more comfortable after the dental work.

Thank you for the well wishes all. tonib she'll be going in between 8.30am and 9am and as all three drink out of the same bowl it's going to have to be bedtime the water is taken up. If the tooth had been a little bit looser then he would have taken a change and pulled it out tonight, but like he say's the teeth are longer than you think and didn't want to get it half out and it get stuck resulting in an emergency anesthetic. So this is the best all round. All being well it won't be a heavy sedation.

OH took Bandit in to the vets this morning at 8.30am and she has had her fang removed plus a scale and polish. £70 We picked her up again at 4.30pm. She's doing great, though she was starving when we got home. We gave her a small meal, and she wolfed it down. I told her she could have something else later coz I didn't want to give her too much with not having anything all day, Ha! she had other ideas, the little minx, as soon as my back was turned she was in Flirty's dish. She's a lot more comfortable but still has to have antibiotic twice a day for the next few day. (Oh joy) But right now she's curled up on her cussion fast asleep.

Glad Bandit has eaten. Perhaps the fang was the main problem.

Glad that all went well at the vets and Bandit is feeling much better. I don't know how I missed this thread and your question about the water. I've been told by some veterinary nurses to stop food at 7pm and you can still give water to your cat before an op - some vets must have different ideas.
