We took Bandit to the vets this evening. On Friday she was sick and she hasn't been eating properly all weekend too. I had also noticed that she kept swallowing. Anyway the vet has had a look at her, and she has an ulcer in the back of her throat. At the moment she's been given a long lasting antibiotic and anti inflammatory injection that should last 14 days, but he expects her to be a lot better in 7 days. If there is no improvement then he's going to have to sedate her and have a more indepth look at it. (the worse case scenario is throat cancer) or it could just be a scratch that's got infected. Then to cap it all Jasper isn't well tonight too. He's been sick and is very subdued. If he doesn't pick up in a day or two then he'll be off to the vets too. God help me. if it's not one it the other.

Sorry to hear that Bandit and Jasper (and Beau scallywag !! ) aren't doing so well. I hope the antibiotics and anti inflammatory injection helps Bandits ulcer reduce and that it's nothing serious. What are you feeding her at the moment? Just if you are giving dry you might wanna consider trying her on wet, fairly mushy food for a bit as it might be easier for her to swallow. Some of the wet cat foods are kind of like a pate type paste and I'd imagine they'd be a lot easier on the throat as they wont be going down in chunks. Just an idea anyway but you may already feed something like that or she may be one of those cats that despises any kind of change in diet (cats will be cats, haha). I hope with Jasper it's just a once off thing and that he's just feeling a bit sorry for himself having been sick. Keep us updated on how they are both doing please!

Sorry to hear Bandit's got a throat ulcer cazypops, but glad she's has picked up a bit after the meds. At least your vet is sensible & gives the long-lasting injection rather than a 24 hour plus tablets or liquid to give at home. I only recently found out there were long lasting injections available but deliberately ask for them now for cats hard to pill. Apparently they're more expensive which is why our vets don't routinely give them! Hope Jasper's soon OK again & no vet visit required. You're certainly having a time of it recently. scallywag do you think Beau's been chatting to Jasper & they're going for the sympathy up-chuck? Hope's he's recovered soon.

Thanks for your good wishes everyone. Both of the fur babies seem a little better today. Bandit is eating a bit more, though I still see her wince when she swallows. Jasper is still sleeping all the time and not interested in food, (we tried him with a little boiled chicken, and he had a tiny piece, and now he's making smells. ) he's still drinking normally thankfully. scallywag how is Beau doing today? I hope he's feeling better too.

Glad to hear they're both a little better cazypops, Bandit's still got a few days before the vet expected her to be a lot better. The wait is the worse part isn't it. Sounds like Jasper still has an upset tum just gas now but it must still be uncomfortable for him.
