Got to the vets for Kai Ruki's appointment at 6 and gave my name in to the receptionist who then asked if I had an appointment. It was made by the receptionist at the vet's other branch (where x-rays and bigger operations are carried out) and I heard the receptionist make it for me on the phone - the receptionist in my more local branch hadn't written it down!! So that meant I had to be squeezed in between lots of dogs appointments. A large Shar Pei dog came in and was quite taken with Kai Ruki and sat about 2 feet away staring at him - luckily Kai Ruki didn't seem to mind. The vet had a good look in Kai Ruki's mouth and said he would have to have a tooth taken out and also noticed he was still dribbling. There is still a red sore looking patch just inside his lip and the vet noticed that when Kai Ruki closes his mouth the tooth at the top bites into it so he is going to remove that tooth even though there is nothing wrong with it. This will be done on 20th as the vet is on holiday next week and he doesn't want another vet to do it.

Good news I always feel so relieved once I know what is wrong and have a plan of action to sort it out and get it fixed Once that tooth is out Kai Ruki will be SO much happier

Shame about losing a good tooth but it does sound like it's been the cause of the problem.

Good to hear they have found the cause of the problem (By the sounds of it). Shame to lose a good tooth, but sounds like it will do him loads of good and I know plenty cats who get teeth taken out and you'd never know a difference. Carlotta has had a tooth out and it never effected her eating, but she doesn't eat dry so can't comment on that.

Our first foster Molly only had one tooth in her head and it certainly didn't affect her eating Domino only had her four 'fangs' but could crunch biscuits up as well as our other, fully-toothed- girl.

Took Kai Ruki to the vets yesterday to have his 1 bad tooth and 1 good tooth out - when I went to collect him at 4pm the nurse said something about the roots being worse than they thought and they took 6 TEETH OUT!! poor Kai Ruki. Usually when I take him to the vet he hates me and sulks for days but when I collected him he loved me. I poked my fingers in his carrier on the way home and he bumped his head against them and licked them. He loves me! - he must think I am a hero for getting him from there! When he came home he looked really spaced out for hours but managed to eat some wet cat food and then a whole pouch later on. He seems much happier.
