Well Ruppee and Georgia have been on a special metabolism food to help Ruppee lose weight. It's supposed to not affect normal weight cats like Georgia but I noticed that Georgia seems to have lost weight to the point her waist is dipping in. I took her to the vet's this morning and got her weighed. She has lost weight so we agreed to do some bloods to check her liver, kidneys and thyroid. Those came back normal but they want a pee sample to check so I've left her there today. I'm worrying that she's getting herself stressed and that's causing it. Just have to see what the pee says.

Oh poor thing. I hope that Geogia will be okay and that it is just stress that is causing her weight loss.

Hope Georgia is OK.
Penny maintained her weight level when we altered the amount of Metabolic from weight loss to maintenance. Its supposed to help cats manage their own food intake but if Ruppee & Georgia share a bowl then if he's eating more then she may be only getting the diet share or she may not like it - it is quite a large kibble.

Tonib, they have separate bowls so I can't blame Ruppee ;0). In 7 hours at the vet's she hadn't done a pee and there wasn't enough water in her bladder to extract some using a needle so I had to leave her there. I gave her a pep talk and told her to have a good pee. She made me laugh as she growled at the girl who showed me in. She can be unexpectedly feisty at times.

Hope she takes in enough liquid to get a sample

Would you believe she's been there the best part of 24 hours and no pee? Never try and out stubborn her! I've to call around 4 but if she's produced before then they'll call me.

Ouch - that is a long time without peeing - has she been drinking? How did it go today?

She still refused to pee so they took a sample from her bladder. That had blood in it but most likely that was caused by the method of extraction. I've to try and feed her up and she's back next week for another weight check. If there's no progress she will be kept in until she pees naturally. I did wonder if it's cystitis but I don't see her toilet to be able to answer their questions on straining and frequency. So for the meantime I've got her some Calm food to see if that helps if it's stress.

Oh dear. I know what you mean about not being able to provide that information. 3 out of 4 cats prefer the outdoors, Penny's the only one that usually uses a litter tray. Osiris will hold on until he can go out in unless he's kept well over 24 hours. Roman will use a tray if necessary as will Lexie. I hardly ever see any of them use the trays, although I do hear Penny - she's an ardent scratcher beforehand & doesn't bother afterwards, except vocally as she often tells us something smelly needs clearing!!!!
Humour aside, I do hope Georgia can provide the sample soon & is OK.

She's been a good girl and had had a wee but there's nothing showing so I am grateful about that. It would therefore seem the weight loss is only to do with stress so that is going to be fun to deal with. She doesn't seem to respond to the Feliway and the Calm food which had worked previously she now won't touch. Anyone any ideas?

Glad she's finally given a sample & they couldn't find anything wrong. Have you any idea what could be stressing her?
Have you tried Pet Remedy plug-ins instead (or as well as) Feliway? Lozzy recommended it to me and we have a mix in our house.

Hi Tonib never heard of Pet Remedy so that might be something to look into. It's my OH who is stressing her out. She's never been very good with men and she's taken particularly against him it would seem. Just looked into this and have bought some. I'm very interested in aromatherapy anyway so I think I will benefit from some of the ingredients too. Bonus!

You know she's ok in herself, bright and playful. It's just this anorexia crazy she seems to be having at the moment that's the kicker.
