Good on them for donating. Like you I found it quite funny but then I'm a Marmite lover.

When I first saw it, I thought it was in poor taste.....their donation has not changed my opinion. The only reason they made the donation was because they were slated over the ad. There would be a public outcry if the ad was a mickey take of the NSPCC.

I feel really ashamed for finding it funny.

I found the ad quite funny - Like Toni, I love Marmite so perhaps that's why I didn't think too badly of it. The donation of £18,000 to the RSPCA won't make much of a dent in their profits - the extra publicity from it will ensure that people remember Marmite.

I personally didn't see the humour in it and I agree with Jim (tingler) and like Jenny said the £18,000 to the RSPCA won't make a dent in their profits and they are getting some great publicity out of it. I love marmite!

It definitely affects people differently, as I said previously I find it amusing but when I showed it to Mark he couldn't see the humour but he also didn't see it as offensive.

we all have differing perspectives-nothing wrong with that. I don't find it offensive-just poorly thought out, especially with all the animals that have been abused/abandoned that hit the news on a daily basis

I found humor in the ad. I do think that the people who found the time to phone up or emailed to complain about a marmite ad should get a life. You could look at the ad as having a double meaning. Funny neglect of marmite. Making people who bought it and then realised it's not for them are horrid people for putting in away and forgetting about it. And also making people think that doing the same to an animal is wrong!!

They should have donated more but it wouldn't have changed my view and I do like Marmite.

I didn't vote on the poll because I clearly saw where the poor taste was... and I saw where people may think it is humorous! Its good that they donated however.
I don't see how people could be bothered to complain about a marmite ad. It holds nothing really inappropriate does it?

It is inappropriate because of the subject matter it is demeaning. Animal cruelty!!!!!!! There in lies the problem as it is trivialising the not onlt the work the RSPCA and other animal welfare charities do and in my mind it is in very poor taste. They only donated BECAUSE the public complained.....had the independent complaints commission not received any complaints on the matter then they would not have made a donation-they were shown to be in bad taste.

Mine is that they shouldn't feel bullied in to donating money because of people complaining. If you don't like the advert then switch the Tv over!!

Gladys I don't think that Marmite felt bullied into the donation. I think it's to try and calm the negative publicity and I suspect they even had the money set aside as part of the advertising budget as they wanted to create the controversy in the first place. Perhaps that's my suspicious mind...
