I went on a group walk on weekend and a dog who I have walked with before took way too much interest in Phoebe.
Yes he is entire (he is a show dog), but having walked with the dog before this is distinctly different to how he has reacted to her in the past.
Phoebe is spayed.
It just made me stop and think so I did go and have an informal chat in reception with the vets practice, saw a nurse.
They can do a blood test to test hormone levels but when they say it is going to be expensive you know it will be!
I could have ultrasound done but that might not show anything.
She cringed when I said she was spayed while having a phantom, I did not know till day I took her in to be spayed and vet was adamant it was fine to do it. I knew no different and trusted what he had said.
I am thinking I have really mucked my poor girl up!
She does carry toys around house constantly (and takes all toys off the other dogs), we always say she has her dummy or gobstopper!
I am not sure what to do, go ahead with the bloods and find out or just leave as is!
I am not planning on allowing any operation if it turns out to be vets accidentally left a bit of ovary behind in the spay but it would allow me to know that when dogs take interest there is a reason.
I am unsure if there is anything that can be done if it turns out hormones are out of wack as vet spayed when they should not have and not even sure if that would show up on bloods.
Was looking at Dorwest Raspberry leaf when I ordered something for Gypsy a few days ago but unsure that is a good idea unless I have bloods done to prove either ovary left behind or hormonal imbalance due to badly timed spay.
