Well I tried to post this earlier but the forum told me an angry blue bear was to blame for it going missing?!? So anyhoo, I took Gerri for her yearly check up and booster jabs Friday morning. I was slightly worried as she has just turned 15 years old. She sleeps a lot but then what cats doesn't?? Apart from a little dry skin and maybe just starting to show signs of Senility, such as a blank expression when walking in to a room, like she's thinking "what did I come in here for?". And sometimes repeating the same action two or three times. Ooh and the constant yowling down our hall way, which involves opening the airing cupboard door and meowing inside so it echos?!? She is very fit and well. But we can live wit those things, which I think is good going for a cat who was rescued from children throwing things and being horrid to her and her sister on waste land at about 8 weeks old. And then growing up in a cattery till I found them at 8 months old. So here's to another year. Lets hope it's as good as this one and Gerri continues to enjoy her happy and safe life.

Awww. Sounds almost human-like in the senility department Kids can be awful at times-and need more than a smack-bring back the birch and cane-being serious here. Good to hear Gerri is hunkey dorey and as you say...what cat doesn't sleep a lot? Our Gypsy who is almost 15 sleeps 2/3 of the day.

Good to hear that it went ok at the vets. Molly is nearly 18 and sleeps 90% of the day. She took to "screaming" during the night a few years ago, I thought at first it could be a touch of senility but no - it's food! She seems to enjoy eating more during the night these days and being as she has trouble keeping her weight on, I am quite happy for her to be eating as much as she likes.

tingler - Yeah it does make you think if they had the same done to them would they still do it to poor defenceless animals?? ownedby3cats - Yes I must admit I was very relieved. I don't usually think on the negative side but I think with all the meowing I was a little worried. puddycats - Thought meows can be quite loud as well. Glad Gerri isn't doing it at night (yet) its bad enough when she does it during the day. So you just keep Mollys bowl topped up at night do you?

Yes, I do keep Molly's bowl topped up at night. However, Molly prefers to be accompanied to her food bowl Hence the screaming - time for me to get up. This usually occurs around 2 - 4 am But to be honest, I don't mind as she is the perfect pussycat otherwise, always has been, no trouble at all. I love her more than life. She has been my best friend for nearly 18 years. :-) (Left out hubby there He is equally my best friend.

Glad to hear Geri is going well, a little absent-mindedness is quite acceptable in a human of the equivalent age (76). When our Penny (14) is yowling we know she's playing with a ball of paper in the middle of the night!! Mind you she's often found staring at what to us appears nothing - we say she's away with the fairies! Who knows what they can see or hear, you never know Geri may well see the little people & be trying to let you know they're there As to health Geri's doing better than Penny who has a bit of arthritis.

Ooh don't sometimes both cats follow something that isn't there (I can't see it anyway). Don't mind so much until hubbys away and then it creeps me out a bit. Gerri will sometime tap the cat flap that goes from the lounge to the music room, where her food and litter box is. She will just tap tap tap tap four or five times then go through it?? I have no idea what thats all about but it's very loud!?!

Although I look at Molly and still see her as a youngster, it is lovely to hear someone else say the same.

I think Floyd may be a little on the senile side. If she is happy enough in herself that's great and as you say, she's done very well given her start in life.

I have no idea what thats all about but it's very loud!?! Gerri has her own indoor catflap!! She's been listening to people at your front door who knock before its opened Must admit we have thought about doing something like that to put Osiris's & Penny's food in so that Lexie can't get it, currently we have to put it away until they ask for it or Lexie is having her's in her room. (We have to give the others peace sometime!) Luckily Roman & Lexie eat the same so no problem on her eating his. Penny she has meds in hers so can't let Lexie get it & Osiris is a fussy eater so has is a bit more spoilt in his food & too much of it would upset Lexie's tum!!
