Very cute in her waterproof jacket. Glad that the little lump was nothing to worry about.

Does anybody know how to stop puppy barking , Tea time is a absolute nightmare ☹️Riley has to have his meal in the living room with us because he is a very slow eater and Elsa has normal scoffed hers within seconds . I have tried a slow feeder dish for her but she just knocks it straight over every time . . I normally put her food down in the kitchen whilst we have our tea but she has normally scoffed it before I even sit down. I fill her kong with some dry biscuits that I have soaked and peanut butter she will have a chew at that but then get bored and start barking constantly at us whilst we eat. I have tried removing her and putting her back in the kitchen whilst we eat but she still constantly barks . She is definitely a barker but it gets really frustrating around meal times ☹️
Any advice would be very welcome x

How about feeding them at a different time ? I feed Beau at 8am and 4 pm ish , when we eat he gets shut behind the door with a couple of bits of kibble , and told to wait, hes a begger not a barker , blame my O.H for that . She will eventually get the message , shes still learning and trying to see how far she can push you !

Does she eat dry food? You could try a snuffle mat to slow her down, or a treat ball that she can roll around and they will fall out easily (but still slow her down a lot) and might be more entertaining than a Kong or slow feeder? How about using peanut butter in a different toy that's a bit easier, so it might keep her attention longer - something like a Lickimat would be ideal. Does she have a crate or puppy pen? I would try keeping her in something like that (but in the same room), Alfie has always been a barker but it's a hell of a lot worse if he can't see us, he doesn't mind being separated from us so long as we are still visible. If she still barks then I'd try teaching her a 'quiet' - although I can't help there as I've never had much luck with Alfie! Could you not keep her in the same room as Riley while he eats, or does it put him off? I'm thinking just keeping her on the lead and using some of her own food to distract her and teach her not to bother him while he's eating. Did you mean you eat your meal at the same time as the dogs? If so I would change it so you don't and can work on training her instead, maybe feeding them just before or just after you eat

We started off feeding them both in the kitchen whilst we was sorting our tea , but Elsa had eaten within second then would fly straight across to Riley , he is not a great eater at the best of times and he would just stand back and let Elsa finish his tea. Then she starts with the constant barking this really makes Riley on edge then refuses to eat . So we have found it easier to let Riley have his tea in the living room with us whilst we eat and give Elsa her tea in the kitchen and then give her a kong to keep her entertained whilst we eat . I know she is still only young so it’s all about training her at the moment 😊

We usually just have our meal on a tray on our laps but i’m thinking of us sitting at the table tonight to see if it makes any difference 😊 I think feeding them at different times wouldn’t work at the moment because Elsa is just so fixated on food she would bark at Riley no matter what , I know she’s still only young and still learning so hopefully it will be something she grows out of 😊

For the evening meal I stuff his food in a variety of toys and pop them in the freezer - it takes him ages to finish. It might sound mean making him work so hard, but he really enjoys working for his food! If I just feed him from a bowl, he eats it so quickly that it doesn't even register and he continuously bothers me for more food. He's always much more tired and content after spending a while eating from a toy as his brain has had a good workout too He tends to just settle down to sleep afterwards.

I agree with alfiemummy. Try playing some games with Elsa for her food and it'll tire her out mentally which should mean she won't be as bothered when you're eating. Check out this free e-book for some ideas for games to play with her - nbn.absolute-dogs.com/optimismrocksbookI play some of those games with Pepper & Ellie for their tea and they really enjoy them. And we now have very calm mealtimes as they tend to lie quietly while we eat off trays too.

X It’s not a great picture as it’s not easy trying to catch her still for more than 1 second 😊 But we bought this kong flip today for her food and can also be used for treats . It wobbles preventing it from tipping over although the bottom section you can un screw and put something in to weigh it down, so we will give it a go at tea time and I will fill her kong as well, although most of the time she can’t be bothered once she has licked off the peanut butter.

How did it go chantel? I will say about her Kong though, if she gets bored with it, it must be too hard for her at the moment. Break it down a bit and just put dry kibble in with a scraping of peanut butter so that it falls out easier. That way she'll realise that it's full of good things and will persevere with it. Then start adding a bit more peanut butter (not loads) or some yoghurt to mix with the food. Then eventually you can progress to freezing it so it takes ages for her to empty - which will also be nice for her in the hotter weather.

She is the only dog I know that can actually tip over a none tip dish . I popped it down for her at tea time but because they don’t come out easily she gets frustrated then sits at the kitchen gate and barks . I think once she understands how to do it , it will definitely slow her down and keep her entertained . I popped some dry kiibble in it this morning but supervised her and showed her out to do it . She is still very young and learning and pheraps we are expecting her to do things that Riley could do 😊 I’m going to try putting some dry kibble in her kong today when I leave for work 😊😊

Had to laugh where you said Elsa is the only dog who could tip over a non-tip dish! How did she cope with the hot weather?
