Does anyone know how much a raw fed dog should drink in a day?
Trying to work out if Gypsy is drinking excessively or not! She tends to have a large drink before meals but not much in-between.
Something I have discussed with vet earlier in the year as it does concern me slightly but before going back again trying to work out if I am wasting my money and their time!
When I try to measure what she is drinking she then will refuse to drink anything but caught her out this morning so can estimate what she normally drinks which would be double what she did this morning!

All I know is raw fed dogs shouldn't be drinking as much as they get lots of moisture from their food. Drinking excessively can be signs of diabetes and kidney problems. Personally I would take her to vets if you're worried about the amount she is drinking. I'm sure it wouldn't be a waste of time and its worth getting health problems ruled out for peace of mind. Does the pancreatitis cause excessive drinking, sorry I don't know much about it?

I would get her checked, just for peace of mind. Alfie doesn't drink anything on his own accord now, literally not a drop, and that's since being on a home cooked diet which would, I assume, have a similar water content to raw.
Obviously I get fluids into him other ways though because of his KD!

From another source it is implied that raw fed dog should not be drinking more than 50ml per kg which equates to 1200ml. She is not drinking that much water. Yes she is drinking oddly but now not thinking it is excessive. I might still end up at vets with her but going to watch her for a little longer first.

Is she drinking more than her usual, so excessive for her? I read something that said around 100ml per kg would be excessive (didn't specify on which diet), Alfie was drinking very excessively but still not that much (would have been 600ml / day for him) yet he still had his underlying kidney problem, so I would still have her checked. Sure it's nothing at all, but I know you'll be like me and not stop worrying until it's checked.

caz2golden if you decide to go to the vets try and get a wee sample to take with you so they can at least do a did stick to see if she has a water infection or excess sugar.
