My dogs sometimes get what I call normal fruit like apple, pears, banana, apricot, peach nectarine, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries etc But walking around the supermarket started to think what about the other fruits that are on offer (on the exotic / tropical side of fruit options) and if any of them are ok. Been looking at anything from Melons, Mangos to Pineapple! I have given papaya in the past (only if on reduced section) which should help with digestion.
Anyone know which ones are ok and which to avoid and the health benefits of each?
Obviously I know Avocado and grapes are poisonous.

I'm not really sure of the benefits as such, but Alfie gets a lot of fruit now. It's high moisture and obviously low protein, and is also very low in phosphorus (whereas most raw veggies aren't) so it's a good choice as treats for him.
His favourite is watermelon, I don't like it so I buy the small snack-packs which have like two little wedges in just for him. He likes other types of melon too but I don't buy it all that often as it always goes off before I eat it all.
Unfortunately he isn't very keen on pineapple, unless it's over ripe and very sweet. Shame, as that's the fruit I always have chopped up and in the fridge.
He's had mango and likes that, never had fresh papaya but likes the Soopa dried chews. He loves coconut but I buy the dried chips, he's never had fresh that I can remember.
Not exotic, but he gets blueberries everyday - perfect size for a treat and lots of antioxidants. He normally gets them as a lunchtime snack with a wedge of cucumber.

Our lot love melon, although they don't get it often. Pepper likes strawberries, and Ellie likes most things except strawberries and bananas. They both like cherries too, with the stone taken out, of course. I think they like pineapple, although they definitely don't get that too often as I like it too. I had a pot of mango the other day and had to share it with all 3 too, so they like that as well. I don't know of the specific benefits of it or anything, but if they like it they get it usually. Pepper & Ellie had some blackberries fresh from the bush this morning on our walk. They're starting to be ready, although Jean tried one and said it wasn't sweet at all, so it'll probably be another couple of weeks before I can pick a load. And as I type, my mam has just walked into the room with a nectarine and she now has an audience of 3 furry faces watching her very closely!

I just wish that I could get our Jasper to eat anything that remotely looks like a piece of fruit of vegetable. The only thing he's eaten willingly, is peas, and that's because he didn't know they were there. I use to try and give him carrots when he was a pup and teething but wouldn't entertain them. (Fussy little git!)

I have never even thought of trying Kobi with fruit! The only veg I have tried him with was carrots and he didn't like them. I shall try him with some fruit.

Thanks for all the messages so far, think I might bite the bullet when I next see a pineapple, mango or water melon on reduced I am sure the dogs would love to try something different. Had not considered Cherries so might look into them too

Skip loves fruit, and has always eaten cantaloupe melon, pineapple, and kiwi fruit along with the others. I make fresh fruit salad and he likes to help me with mine. I wouldn't give Apple with peel on as they get sprayed or are treated with oil which won't wash off.
