Tesco Complete Dog Food Chicken And Vegetable - Opinions?
We have a 5 month old Golden Retriever and have hears some good things about this food - much better than the 'Value' range.
Any opinions please?
Thanks

I wouldn't rate any supermarket own brand as a decent food for any dog unfortunately - poor ingredients and very low meat content. www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/This website is an excellent place to look for a good dog food and it allows you to compare between brands. Interestingly, the value food gets a higher rating than the 'premium', but a rating of less than 1 (out of 5) for both is very poor.

Another way to decide if the food is good, I was always told the more the dog poops a day the less the goodness of the food. If a dog is pooping a lot then its pooping out all the crap ! a good dog food produces lesser poops . Maybe I'm miss informed ? if so I am sure I will be told Beau does 2 poops a day is that too many ?

I agree that most of the supermarket dog foods aren't really a very good choice. Lots of fillers like wheat & maize and little named meat. Are you able to go to somewhere like Pets At Home for your dogs food? You will find a better selection in there. Or better still, order online? You'll get more choice and there are quite a few budget options that are reasonable quality - I'm not 100% sure but I think some of the Skinners, CJS and Vitalin ranges are considered 'ok' and not too dear. There are exceptions to the rule of not being able to find good food in supermarkets. Tesco stocks Lily's Kitchen which is handy as I often pick up a 1kg bag if I'm running low to tide me over until I get Alfie's usual brand, and I think they sell Pooch & Mutt too. Although not sure if these would be feasible options for a large breed puppy! You'd probably need bigger bags

Totally agree, good quality food creates less waste Phoebe goes up to twice a day, no comment on Gypsy she is just not normal (pegs it till she goes on a walk)

You'd probably need bigger bags I forgot to mention that bit I managed to convince one of my clients to switch her dog's food (Bakers) but she was having trouble because she never has time to pick up food for him at the pet shop, she's not very good with computers, and the smaller bag sizes weren't great. I pick up food for her at the pet shop now and deliver it to her house
