This morning, we had only been out for 10 minutes when Ellie decided she was going to chase a lurcher who appeared round the corner (we meet this lurcher quite often). Unfortunately, Ellie didn't remember that she had only been out of bed for 15 minutes and hadn't been walking for long enough to be sufficiently warmed up. The chase lasted less than 5 seconds because she has ended up pulling/spraining a muscle >.< She yelped and came running back to me, sitting at my feet and yelping some more. We've been to the vets this afternoon and the vet was the one who said it's likely a pulled muscle/sprain so I've been advised to keep treating her with Loxicom and rest. No long walks for her this weekend!
I'm hoping the rest & Loxicom does the trick so that she can compete in the HTM show we're entered in on the 20th. If she's still having trouble, I won't be taking her.

It was lucky that we had some Loxicom left over from Cody's woes so I could give her some as soon as we got back from the walk this morning. I couldn't take her to the vets straight away as our vets are only at the branch in our town on an afternoon on a Friday and I was going to the Metrocentre to attempt to start my Christmas shopping. When I weighed up the options of sacrificing the Metrocentre to try & get her in to the Darlington branch with what the vet was likely to do, I thought I'd be as well giving her some Loxicom & seeing how she was when I got back. Thankfully, when we saw the vet this afternoon, she said that that was exactly what she would have done and to just keep giving her the Loxicom so I didn't feel too bad.

She seems to be feeling a bit better, although she's still favouring the bad leg & not walking completely properly. She hasn't had a proper walk today and she won't tomorrow either. She's much easier to rest than Cody because she's quite happy to stay in bed!
