Sorry, it's me again!
When Alfie was ill with his pancreatitis he lost a kilo which was loads for a dog that is usually only 6.4kg (and very lean at that weight). Since he's been better, he has put some back on, currently @ 6kg, but I'm struggling to get him any higher than that. I'd actually like to see him around 7kg - just enough to have something in reserve but still being slim.
He has to have a low fat diet now so I think that's our stumbling block.
He gets 40g Burns fish & rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner and then gets some Applaws/Almo Nature wet food for supper. Quite a few treats throughout the day too, far more than he used to but they're all low fat also.
I feel like he's not really getting ''enough'' from the Burns but am a bit stuck on what else to move him to. Has to be under 8% fat for a dry food. I did try him on Pets At Home AVA Weight Management but he gets problems with yeasty paws on some foods and that made it flair up.
I know it's trial & error, but just wondered if anyone had any suggestions on what we could try? Thank you x

Don't have any suggestions on alternative foods, but have you tried feeding him more in general?

Yeah he gets the squits if I increase meal size, and I can't really squeeze a fifth meal in anywhere

When Gypsy became ill at start of year she dropped from 25.7kg to 23.95 and then continued to drop to 23.3 a few months later. I have since slowly built up her weight and she currently is 25kg. I am now happy with her weight.
So guess what I am saying is with a bit of time I am sure you will stabilize his weight.
Gypsy now needs more food than she ever has in the past probably cos of being lower fat diet. She now has more food than Phoebe and before being ill she always was fed less than Phoebe, if anything Phoebe needs to lose some weight so the gap might have to get larger!
Edit: just seen post about increasing food will cause squits so have removed that comment I had put

Oh that's a shame Have you done a search on All About Dog Food? You can filter results for the fat content and certain ingredients that you want to avoid

I'm glad it's going back on now though, maybe I just need to give him some more time. He isn't complaining about all the extra food that's for sure

She did look 'slim' for a while!! Hope he enjoys the extra food but at same time not at the expense of his number 2's! Nice list of foods on allaboutdogfood!!!
