Hi all, have a question. Hope you all don't mind me straying in from the dark side I'm not sure if/how many of you live around the Durham area. Even if you're not, you might be able to help My mam has a friend who has recently rescued two cats from the RSPCA. However she's going away for a week in June and is looking for a cat sitter. She wants someone that can go in 2-3 times a day to feed and just give them a bit of a fuss for a while. She's looked online and the only one she has found, she can't get in contact with. She's a bit loathed to put them in a cattery as they've spent so long with the RSPCA so will probably stress. Could anyone recommend anyone? Or suggest alternatives? Thanks all

Ooh,a bit of a problem for her,I can understand her not wanting to put cats in a cattery yet,but she also has to be very careful to get someone trustworthy if they are going to be having the keys to her home.Perhaps the local vet has a list of walkers/sitters who often also pop in to feed animals.

Vet could be a good way to go, I'll suggest it. And yeah, I did think that anyone going in would have to be incredibly trustworthy and CRB checked. I would do it but I'm at work so I'll have enough trouble looking after Jasper!
A cattery admittedly would be easier, but as the cats were abandoned, it wouldn't do anything good for them...

We use a cattery so have had no experience of cat sitters, ours are rescue cats & don't have a problem with the cattery although I can see the concern as the 2 you are asking about have only recently come from a rescue.
What about neighbours/family who could go in a couple of times a day to feed, water, clean litter trays & play with the cats? Maybe a rota?
The suggestions of seeing what info the vets etc. have are good ones too.
Edit: Sorry missed the previous response as took a bit of time typing this reply.

Yeah I would go the neighbor route too if they are just settling in. When we go away for a few days I get a neighbor to check in with the girls as they are both nervy cats and are more settled at home than in the cattery, I don't see the point in making them get stressed out for just a couple of nights. They sleep most of the time anyhoo. When we go on holiday for a week or 2 they go in the cattery, as the lady will sit in there with them and they soon settle.

Thanks guys, ill suggest asking the RSPCA and vets I'm not sure if she trusts her neighbours or not as I thought it would have been obvious to ask them. My first thought would have been a cattery but that's possibly a no go.
