All staples and stitches are but for the last 2 weeks we have been tryin to get rid of the infection but sadly we took him back to the vets and it's still there he's now on alot of antibiotics daily visits to the vets and regular cleans at home. In him self he's fine apart from being fed up with the cone (which he's had on now for 6 weeks) and fed up with us keep cleaning his wound which is getting smaller. I really do feel for him.

Honey does wonders I remember Trinket ( our first springer , had a gaping hole ) and the honey soon healed it all up. I had never heard of it up till then. Good luck scruffsmaz and hope it helps heal the wound up quickly x

It all depends on the 2 lots of antibiotics and the cleaning now as we've all worked hard to help him. I was told he'll be having another test done in about 5 to 7 days time. We've also decided continue with the honey as I've heard so much about it. In the past 6/7weeks it's been so stressful with him I just hope that the infection will clear up this time.

Just a suggestion scruffsmaz .... Some veterinary practices use the k laser and its a very versatile piece of equipment. It has many uses but its often used for infections and wound healing etc. Its incredibly effective and usually treatment costs are approx £25 per session. Not all vets have the k laser so you would need to be referred to a practice that did, but that is easy done. www.vets4pets.com/find-a-practice/vets4pets-vets-in-bramley/k-laser-treatment/Hope your boy recovers. BTW it not just vets4pets that offer this service.

Glada to hear the wound is getting smaller scruffsmaz & hope that the antibiotics (yet again) do the trick this time along with the cleaning & manuka honey. Or you can get K-laser treatment for him. There are definitely some vets in our region Until I joined this forum & its predecessor (YC) I hadn't heard about the properties of this particular honey, haven't had to use it myself yet but a lot of people swear by it.

Have you tried veterinary grade manuka honey on the wound scruffsmaz ? I had to smile when I read about Manuka honey as last week a friend of mine took one of her Rottweiler's to the vets because he had a skin infection and the vet told her to buy some Manuka honey and she asked "How much should I give him, a tablespoonful?"!!
Great that the stitch and staples are out scruffsmaz - there is light at the end of the tunnel if the wound is getting smaller. Won't be long before the cone is off Alfie.

Gypsy. I never heard of it. He's not in pain any more but it's worth checking out in case any of my other animals.
We've just booked his appointments for everyday at the vets for his intense clean and been told they are going to do another test on Tuesday. So I'm really hoping by then then infection has gone by then.
We've decided to carry on using the manuka honey as we know it won't harm him and hope it might help clear the infection with everything else we're doing.

I've been told that alf might need corrective surgery when the infection has cleared up, the vet has also told me he thinks abit of fur has caused his infection. We've done 2 out of 4 days of intense clean so fingers crossed when they do the test on Tuesday we get the all clear.
