For the past 14 days I've had my hands full with my German Shepherd, he's had to have surgery on his back end due to tumor, we originally found this lump 14 months ago which was removed but it came back but also this time we found a small lump on his arm which also had to be removed. We are still waiting for the results to come back. Last year was cancerous, I am hoping they have got it all as they have told me they won't be able to do a lot for him next time as they have had to do graft work on him this time and there's no spare skin for any further operations.

I will do he's still got 2 drains in so we're hoping they will come out on Wednesday. He's already ripped the small scar open after only 5 hours after having his stitches taken out so he's had to have it stapled. He was on morphine and we had to sedate him but the tablets didn't work and the morphine made him hyper so it was hard work trying to keep him settled.

Good luck with the results. Hopefully the drains will be taken out tomorrow and he makes a good recovery. Bless him, he doesn't seem to be a good patient.

I'm really sorry to hear about your Alfie @scruffdmsz, it must be a distressing time for both him & you. Fingers crossed for the results. Sounds like you had fun (not) with his reaction to the morphine & the tablets not working. Hope the staples hold until its fully healed.

That's a bummer and I know exactly how you must have felt , my previous Springer had a cruciate operation and when they removed his stitches the whole wound popped back open, they didn't allow enough time for it to join together, we were half way to work ( out of town ) when I noticed him on back seat, so was a rush job straight back. Hope it heals better for him this time {{{HUGS}}} x

He's the most awful patient ever and real hard work I've never know a dog like him. I don't even know how many stitches he's had on his back end. The vets have started to laugh at him with the amount of times I've had to rush him in.

He's just had his drain taken out, the large lump on his back end was cancerous and could come back again, the one on his arm they don't know what was. They only think it was just be soft tissue but could of been cancer but they also think they've got it all. Now he's back in on Monday which is a start as he was on 48 hour checks.

Thank you lotsofcats he's managed to rip open about 6 to 8 stitches which is part of the graft work they have done on him so we're concerned on what the can do for him now. I'm also hoping they will take his staples out on his arm and that he don't rip it open again.

Fingers crossed his staples are coming out on friday. Vet is keeping his stitches in on his back end, the hole is staying but the vet is having to do a test on the hole because she thinks there might be an infection even though he's been on antibiotics from the start. He's still on pain relief and we've got to put gel in the hole to help it heal.
