When out on our walk today, Ellie was bouncing around as we met a couple of dogs we know, and suddenly yelped. She was holding her paw off the ground and whimpering a bit and when I looked at her paw, it looked like it was bleeding, but not much. When we got home, I cleaned it up and had another look but couldn't see much. However, when her feet had dried a bit, I had another look and this is what I've seen: It doesn't look like there's anything stuck in it, but it doesn't look right to me. Has anyone seen anything like this before? I'm reluctant to rush her to the vet as it isn't bothering her when she walks. There's no limp or anything. It's hard to see in the pictures, but next to the reddest bit, the pad seems a bit swollen. But it's not really a cut, it looks more like a graze.

Sorry to hear that Ellie hurt her paw. You may have already done this but anyhow - soaking it in saltwater a few times a day may be a good idea? That's what we normally do with our dogs if they cut a paw.

I'd clean it with cooled boiled water, salted, or even weak Milton solution, just keep an eye on it, is she chewing it? Or licking it much? See how she is today and tomorrow, you know her best. Hope it doesn't cause her problems and take it easy on exercise

I am a great believer in a regular swish in salt water for little accidents to paws, hopefully Ellies paw will look better tomorrow. She could have stood on a wasp or similar, though it looks a bit like a blister.Wish our feet recovered as quickly as dogs from walking wounds.

That is what barleys paws looked like when he chewed them, just keep it clean with salt water and if she starts limping take her to the vet to get it checked, barley got given steroid gel/cream to help it heal

Thanks for all the advice everyone! Sorry I didn't get back to you all sooner, I've had a couple of very busy days >.<
She hasn't limped at all and she hasn't been chewing at it either. I washed it yesterday with Savlon spray, and it's not looking anywhere near as red as it was, although I can't get a proper look at it tonight. She's not being cooperative with her feet being held today.
I definitely don't think it was a nettle sting, as she was on a patch of bare earth when she yelped. We thought she'd perhaps put her foot down on a bit of stick that was there, but it could possibly have been a bee sting. I do remember seeing a bee on the floor at some point during our walk, but I can't remember if it was around that time.
I'll check it again tomorrow too. Hopefully it was just a stick or something. She had been splashing around in the river so could have also caught it while she was in there.
