I suspect that Jasp has done his cruciate in, but we can't get him in at the vets till Monday at the earliest. What I'd like to know is can he still go for his walkies or would it cause more harm? He's still running round the house after the cats when my back is turned as well. LIttle sod!

I would rest him, exercise can make the injury worse. If in doubt phone the emergency vets for advice - that should be free.

I agree with fatamorgana, call to vet to check how to maintain situation until Monday. I would also say to do total rest. Surprised he is still belting about if he has caused serious injury!

Surprised he is still belting about if he has caused serious injury! that was why I don't think its that serious, but he is a bit stiff and walking/running a bit like a tripod. We don't have a cage, never had so apart from physically pinning him to his bed, how do you tell a puppy he has to rest.

PS he did the original injury last Saturday, it didn't look that bad so was went down the wait and see route, and It did look like it was improving until last night when his BF a very large lab rolled over on him and now back to square one, so this time its off the the vets.

They will still run around sadly with the leg help up, our Springer did and at that point we did not know he had snapped his crutiate, also the first vet we saw did NOT pick up on it, but yes I would have him go out to toilet now on a lead until you get to see your vet Caz x

I know what it feels like CP, recently when Holly was spayed we were told to rest her for about a week I think it was and it was a real challenge!! If Jasper does have a cruciate injury, you may find this link interesting. See here

Thank you AnnaAmber that's really given me something to think about. During the week he gets plenty of rest as OH is a delivery driver and Jasp goes with him every day, it's the evening and weekends that I'm pulling my hair out about. He's a 10 month old terrier so you can imagine how much energy he has.

I would rest him. Play mind games. Stimulate his brain. No intense exercise, no walkies. Sorry Jasper!

Thanks everyone, think I panicked for a while there. Jasper is a lot lot better today, He's not perfect but he is putting his foot down now, and putting weight on it. He just looks a bit stiff when he's been asleep for a while. Will keep a close eye on him and if there's any change I'll be sure to let you know.
