I'm new so hello to everyone just a little problem and wondering if anyone can help I have always had cats but never had this problem before I live in a flat so when it's warm and I want to open the window I only have them open a crack as I don't want my cat Lilly to fall out but 5 times now she has caught birds from the open window and killed them I don't know hows she's doing it as they is no window sill on the outside she's a indoor cat but has plenty of toys and a massive cat tree that she spends all day on she's a beautiful happy little girl and I love her loads just wish I could stop her doing this if anyone has any idea I would love to know sorry about the length of this post and thank you

Hi and welcome to the forum, I am from the other side and mum to a Springer called Beau. My first thought was can you not put some form of screen ( fly / security ) that would allow the air in still. Good luck anyways I am sure someone from the cat side will be along with possible advice later

Welcome to the forum. I think Lilly must be hypnotising the birds to land by the open window! You can buy screening that would allow you to open the window and prevent your cat from falling out. Amazon sell it.

Welcome to the forum heavenlilly. Sensible action in opening the windows to a minimum & it sounds like you've one quick, nimble pawed cat. As to how Lily is doing it with no windowsill, can't imagine the birds flying that close to a building! However scallywag does have the right idea. There are devices on the market that will allow you to open windows & the cat not to get out. Just had a look around & found one UK site that seems an easy answer for sash on standard push open windows but not sure about the tilt opening. www.flat-cats.co.uk/Found a thread on another forum about them www.petforums.co.uk/threads/flat-cat-window-guards.349073/Also this one says it does dealwith tilt windows but I can't see how it works www.streme.co.uk/This looks an easy use option but probably more expensive www.phantom-fly-screens.co.uk/serene-screens-for-windows.htmlFor tilting windows www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_flaps_nets/window_protection/29950 probably avilable from other suppliers. these are just ones I found witha quick search. Hopefully there will be someone else on the forum may well have experience of protecting cat acess out of windows. Our cats are allowed out so haven't had any use but I am thinking about it for upstairs windows.
